Whatever my preference, my bathtub isn't big enough for an adult to soak in.. I'd have to sit with my knees tucked to my chin in a few inches of hot water. Oh, I miss my old cast iron claw-foot tub and Mr. Bubble!
Showers for sure. I like the feel of the water washing over me and washing my troubles down the drain. The water is like a light massage. I've started taking showers sometime around the age of 11, don't really remember, but once I tried it there was no looking back at taking a bath.
I don't have time to waste sitting in a tub getting all wrinkled, not to mention it probably takes more water and how am I going to wash my hair or shave my legs properly while soaking in a tub.
I really don't see the thrill of sitting in a tub and reading or whatever. I just want to get clean and dressed and on with my life. If I need to relax, that's what the couch is for and I don't have to worry about a wet book or spilling my wine glass in the tub
We use to have a Grandfather antique claw foot tub. Oh it was wonderful when filled with nice aromic bubbles and candles around the room. I could stay there for quite some time.
Now it's showers. I'm in too much of a hurry seems like.
I love to take a long hot candle lit bath with my scented oil from Avon. It's so relaxing just soaking and listening to early 70s music.
Those days ended when we moved to this house. It's weird the main bathroom as a shower only in it. The basement bath has the tub and it's kinda a small tub so it's not that much fun especially in the basement. I dream of having a big claw foot tub again someday.
When I was still living in NY, we had a claw foot tub.. a good soak in hot water up to your neck without the expense of a $10,000 hot tub? I'm all for it!
If I had a larger whirlpool tub, then baths would be nice - but mostly for soaking/relaxing...or other reasons (wink-wink, nudge-nudge)...but I have a regular sized tub and 3 kids who get it dirty rather quickly. Don't like soaking in a dirty tub.
I didn't have a shower in my house growing up - just a tub. I love a good, strong shower - love to have the water hit my head, run down my face, and on down the rest of me...it almost takes my stresses with it - when I have time to do it. Lately I've been getting myself wet, turning off the water, lathering everything up, and then turning the water back on to rinse. Save a little on water and gas, but since we don't have a fan in the bathroom, just a window next to the tub, it can get quite chilly in the winter...
When you think about it, if you take a bath you're sitting in your own dirty water. Now doesn't that sound lovely?
I used to get grossed out by a lady I worked with who would always take a bath after her husband using the same water. I know they shared bath water in the old days, but for some reason this sounded gross. Her reason for taking a bath was because she hated showers. She didn't like the water running in her face. I said you're supposed to have your back towards the water and lean your head back when rinsing your hair. Then I asked her how she washed her hair in the tub. She said she washed it separately at the kitchen sink. Well, doesn't ALL the water run in your face then? Not to mention water splashes all over.

Did you burn scented candles with soft music in the background while soaking in the tub?

....Now, a very great man once said
That some people rob you with a fountain pen
It didn’t take too long to find out
Just what he was talkin’ about
A lot of people don’t have much food on their table
But they got a lot of forks ’n’ knives
And they gotta cut somethin’....
