I don't have time to decorate after all the costume stuff is done. Costume making takes a lot of time and I don't feel like decorating although if I did, it would be awesome looking. I don't care to waste money on too many decorations. Then I don't know where I'd store all the stuff. I'm trying to clean my basement out, not fill it. Same goes for Christmas stuff.
Less stuff = less fussing, more time and more money for other things.
Halloween (and the pitter patter of greedy little feet) is just around the corner..
I can recall as a kid there being hundreds of kids on the street at any given time.. haven't seen that in years tho. many kids around here go to church gatherings and the like.
We normally get >100 trick or treaters. I enjoy seeing the costumes and the kids excitement.
It's not the same with decorating. My wife would have me light up the house if she could. I can normally get by doing minimal stuff by claiming I don't like pagan holidays. Well, that's what I say.

I prefer to decorate with a Fall Harvest look rather than the scary witches, and goblin stuff. That way you can put it up sooner and leave it for the Fall. But I don't really do that anymore. Last year I left it up to my son to decorate and he decorated with all the scary things he collected over the year at Garage Sales and after Halloween Sales the year before and did a good job of it.
Well, I admit it, I am one of those who used to go all out with decorating for Halloween. I usually have my front porch decorated like a dungeon with scary people and fake blood...even a guy who raises his head and talks! I made black curtains out of heavy material and hung them from the ceiling to the floor so it was pitch dark in there except for the black light. I also did the fog machine outside along with a graveyard and scary sounds, etc. This is the first year I've scaled back and only put lighted pumpkins in the windows and orange lights around the porch door. We only had about 15 trick or treaters last year so I figure why go to all that work and then have to haul it all back to the basement afterward for just a few kids. Most of them were too scared to come on the porch anyhow. LOL
Well Sunday is Halloween and we have yet to put anything but 2 pumpkins out so far. My son decorated last year but said he isn't sure if he will put any of his scary things out or not. But we will hand out candy for those that stop by.
I have nothing, but my husband did bring up the Crypt Keeper from the basement. It's one of the sound activated things that can scare the crap out of you if you forget to turn it off and all of a sudden it starts rattling, lights flashing and laughing the evil laugh. Anyway he was the inspiration for last year's costume. I modeled it after that thing. Of course, I look nothing like the Crypt Keeper...muahahahhaha!!
That's all the effort I have put into this. The second came from the grocery store where they had a big bin of them and my daughter was with me and wanted to pick one out. lol
I might decorate a bit this year.. I did pick up a neat Halloween t-shirt at the thrift store that looks like a tuxedo with bat decorations..
Normally we don't get too many kids tho.. I think the most I ever had was 10 in one evening since I've lived here. All the kids go to the better neighborhoods
