My mother in law loves to fry these up every year. So I make sure she always gets some.
I remember a post that was put on with pictures where she was frying these nasty looking mushrooms. I looked around for it but could not find it...Do you remember it Carol?

I remember pics of it. She goes crazy over puff balls. Slices them up like steaks, coats them with a breading and frys them.
I found 5# of morels last season an she was in heaven with them as well.
Experimented with a few new mushrooms found that are eatable according to the mushroom book. One smelled like pineapple when cut open. It was really different.
Looking like a beautiful day out. Just heard we are looking at around 80 degrees this weekend and no rain. Leaves are really turning on our trees here. Fall is certainly upon us.
Well kids have the day off so have to get the day going.
Speaking of weird mushrooms, sometimes I find these weird kind in my wood chips that look like pieces of fat or someone's ruffled ears. Anybody ever see those? Google is saying they are a kind of cup fungi or a tree ear.
Carol, a few years ago I got a really nice mushroom book from the Watertown library that you might be interested in. This is how I identified the stinkhorn to begin with. Lots of nice photos of different parts of each mushroom. Not just a single photo of each like most books. I thought the photos were great and very helpful.

I got a big one sitting here called "The Mushroom Handbook" by Louis C.C. Krieger
No idea what it was called, but they might still have it at the library. Lots of pictures and that's what I like for identifying things. It was a bigger size book.
