So, it's vacation time again. Anyone going on a trip this summer?
If so, where are you planning on going? Out of Wisconsin? Visiting a far off land? Relatives? Camping? Resort?
When we started our business, my hubby said we would be able to take off anytime we want and go on vacation for how ever long we wanted. Well...that hardly ever happens because there's no one else capable of running the business. The only time we get away overnight anymore is when we have our family reunion and then only when it's going to be held at the Dells. Otherwise, it's close enough for a one day trip and we don't need to stay overnight. It all depends on who's hosting it for that year. My youngest sister is doing it this time and she has a year round campsite at Arrowhead Resort so she always has it there and we actually get to go for two days. That's about the extent of our vacation for the year.
I thought we were at least going on a mini vacation this year for a few days, but guess it became just talk and my 'vacation' will be looking at pictures of vacations on the Internet this summer.
Talking about vacatons...my grandson is in Hawaii for the next 2 weeks! I so wanted to climb into his suitcase and go with him. lol
I have always wanted to go to Hawaii...or any place tropical for that matter. It probably won't ever happen unless I win the lottery or get a free trip from someone.

How did he get so lucky? I want to go there. I probably never will or at least not for a long time.
We don't usually take our vacation in summer. That's when everyone else does. We almost always go in late April to sometime in May when people still have kids in school. It's cheaper and less crowded. Also isn't too hot if you're going to any states in the southern half of the country.
Sometimes we take our trips in the fall for the same reasons. This year we are going to try to get to Arizona in the fall. That depends on money and jobs. Since I'm looking for a different job and if I do find something else that could mean no time off work. Money, well I don't know what that is. Our money tree is looking pretty bare right now. I'm hoping for a miracle. Traveling is one our hobbies (even if once a year hobby) and I sure don't want to give up a vacation.
He has a great grand mother that is 100 percent Japanese and was raised in Hawaii. She now lives up here but still visits her family in Hawaii. She always offers to take him with her when she goes and this year my daughter said yes.
I always wanted to visit Hawaii until I saw Dog the Bounty Hunter.. if Hawaii is like that, no thanks

Vacation? What's a vacation? Haven't had one of those in a while. But seriously, I always plan a couple of trips locally here in WI. Went to New Glarus a couple weeks back, but now am trying to plan for a possible Sparta or LaCrosse trip.
My two youner kids just got back from a school camp trip. My Grandson is now on a week trip. He comes back and gets repacked and going on a 3 week trip to Hawaii. Later this summer he will be going to Idaho with his mom (my oldest daughter) for 2 weeks. My oldest is also going to Idaho soon for a wedding. (we have relatives there). Both my younger ones are going to Galena later this summer for a week for a school camping trip.
We also have a few family weekend and day trips in the planning stage for this summer too.
So looks like a great summer this year for everyone.
My buddy's kids go to camp in 3 weeks.. they go every year.

Hubby is still waiting to find out when he gets his vacation days since he had to cancel the week in May to a later date. We tossed around a few ideas back in Feb. or March and had planned on May, but now it could be August or later. It all depends on the time of year and weather there. Once we know a date, then we can plan. One thing I know for sure, it it won't be Wisconsin.
I'd like to do a weekend trip up to Eau Claire again because there was a restaurant I wanted to try, plus return to a couple we ate at last year. I'd also like to get to La Crosse, which I haven't been to in a long time. I need to try that pizza place that was on Outrageous Food. The Take 5 (like the candy bar) pizza has my name on it.
There's always day trips planned all summer long for the weekends. Who wants to stay home? Boring!
I've been "vacationing" from my gossipy neighbors all this past week.. haven't been outside to talk to or visit anyone in my apt complex since last Sunday. Someone even knocked on my door the other day to make sure I was still alive, lol!
