So, what was the worst advice you ever got?

Yeah, he's a nice guy you should marry him.... I was 19 and he was my first husband.

I'll bet that's a common refrain, lol..

My problem isn't usually getting bad advice, but in not following good advice.

Sorry this one is not good, but the only real bad advice I ever got, which I did NOT accept. It happened many years ago and the good news is everything turned out really well when I did not take all the advice and handled the situation completely to good result and healthy, happy kids.

Many years ago my favorite aunt called me to tell me I needed to "go buy yourself a nighty and make up to him - don't throw away 12 years. You are being stupid and you have to consider the kids and your future" She also told me she would never speak to me again if I did this. She didn't believe what had occurred.
A certain person at that time had been drugging and molesting his own children. I had no idea, it was so hidden. He denied it even after being caught.

The only advice I took from my aunt was, "you have to consider the kids and your future". That was excellent advice!

The perp disappeared, the kids told all they were warned not to tell, did heavy metal detox programs and are able, drug free adults, understanding how to speak out when sordid things happen, feeling empowered and empowering others.
