Sometimes you just never know who your next 'true friend' is going to be. In this case the new friend is kinda 'nutty', but certainly seems like a loyal friend. How can you ask for anything more? lol

We used to have squirrels at one house that would come up on my lap to get a treat or be petted.. one day, a lady visitor came by and one of the squirrels ran up her leg looking for a treat and she freaked out and took off running!

LOL That would have been funny to see!

When we lived in Elkhorn, we used to feed the squirrels in a feeder on our front deck. If the feeder was empty, they would come up to the big window and look inside until we went out and filled it up for them. I have a couple of pictures of our cat nose to nose at the window with one of the squirrels. BTW, did you know they really like watermelon?

This may sound "nutty".. but I will usually go out of my way to try and "talk" to squirrels as I go by, hoping one is tame enough to come over for a visit.. I know squirrels can be destructive in the house but they are one of my favorite creatures of nature!

I think of this video sometimes when I see a friendly squirrel. Wonder if I can find an update and see if the squirrel ran off when a mate came around or if he now has two that follows him around. lol

lol...just thinking, it would be so cute if the squirrels had babies and he had a whole family now crawling all over him!

At the college my son goes to they have rules about not messing with the squirrels on campus and can get into lots of trouble if they do. They are allowed to feed them but they aren't supposed to try to catch them or chase them even if they do come right up to you. There must have been some incidents in the past for them to make specific rules for something that should be common sense to begin with.

Chipmunks are friendlier.

... and they don't dig up my flowers, empty my bird feeder or nest in my garage eves.

I remember feeding friendly chipmunks. They would climb up on my lap and look what kind of treats I had. We were feeding them peanuts and they would stick one unshelled peanut in each cheek and then try to stuff a third one in there, but they couldn't get another peanut to fit.
