OK, that's for the cottage in the northwoods; home is a different story.

The top or bottom question was settled early in the relationship: When I change the roll, it's over the top; whe she changes the roll it's around the back.

She changes it far more often than I do.

My first recent encounter with a septic system occurred last July when we visited Misty's brother at his house way out in the middle of 100 acres of corn fields.. there was a sign posted in the bathroom.. "Absolutely no TP in the toilet. All TP goes in the bucket.".. I waited til I got home.

TP in the bucket would be stinky. How often would you have to empty that? Yuck!

In most of Mexico, central, and south america 'TP in the bucket' is the norm.
And, yes, it is is stinky.

Most Americans don't realize how good it is here.

I don't know but the alternatives that I can think of would be landfill or incineration.

I'm guessing the incinerator.. and yes, many Americans don't realize how good they have it. Some countries don't even use toilet paper.. which is why in some parts of the world it's a no-no to touch someone with your left hand.
