Ever Use An Online Dating Site?

Have you ever used an online dating site? Have you met someone that way?

One of the most popular (and free) online dating sites is Plenty of Fish (www.pof.com). I've been on there a few times and made a few chat friends that way but never anything serious as I wasn't "looking". Traffic-wise, POF is phenomenal.. Markus (the owner) operates it pretty much out of his apartment and grosses over $30k a month in ad revenue! Goes to show how profitable even free online dating can be!

Always seeing tv commercials for sites like eHarmony.. I suppose if you meet someone, even a paid membership could be worth the price.

I met my last girlfriend online in a chatroom.. neither of us were looking for anyone (she'd just divorced) yet we ended up together 4 years and still stay in touch today..

Nope...I've never needed to use one since I've been with my hubby since we were sophomores in high school. However, my BFF has met some very strange guys through on-line dating services. One time she went all the way to Milwuakee to meet up with a guy and they ended up at a motel. I don't think she realized how dangerous and stupid that was or how badly that could have turned out. Another time a guy wanted to meet her alone on the top of a high cliff but I talked her out of going. She's had a few other weird dates too like the guy who used to drive to her house buck naked after they had one date! He wouldn't have thought it was such a thrill if he had been pulled over by a cop on the way there! The guy she's with now she also met on a local dating service and he is kind of strange too....he has a foot fetish and goes around taking pictures of women's feet with his camera phone! I think she just goes for the wrong kind of guys all the time.

I have another friend who met her husband through an on-line dating service and they've been married for a little over a year now. But it didn't take long after the wedding to find out that he was a compulsive liar and they would have gotten divorced after a couple months if he hadn't agreed to go to counseling for it.

I haven't known anyone yet who has met someone through a dating service where it has worked out really good for them.

No! If I was looking I would never join an online dating site merely because there are way to many bad stories than good. It's to scary what you may run into. If I was looking and had to resort to a dating service I would rather just be alone.
