On October 15,1989 at 11:50 am I had my last cigarette.
Yes, I have not smoked in over 20 years. I can tell you there was a time when I thought I would die if I did not have a smoke. Those days are gone and I do not miss it at all. In fact I do not miss anything about it.
Here is what I do not miss.
Late night runs to a gas station because I ran out of cigarettes or matches.
Hacking up my lungs every morning.
Wheezing and gasping for air because I just climbed a flight of stairs.
Looking for a ashtray or a place to stand and have a smoke.
Have a cloud a smoke around my head when I did smoke.
Even at the end of my smoking days I disliked smokey rooms/ smokey bars.
Always making sure I had enough cigarettes on hand.
I do not miss spending all that money that went up in flames.
If you are a smoker , maybe you should consider 2010 as the year you quit. I can tell you taht six months after I quit I realized how stupid smoking actually is and could have kicked myself around the block for smoking for so long. I also realized how BAD I smelled to others. yick yick and double yick.
Yes you smokers S T I N K !!! to high heaven.
Here is my challenge, Make a list of reasons you dislike smoking and list of reason why you like smoking. I bet the dislikes will out weigh the likes and then think $7.00/pack, wow that will add up in a very short time.
Now look at this photo, If this is not enough to make you sick nothing is. This photo was taken outside the employee entrance, where I work. As of the first of the year smoking is not allowed anywhere on company property and if your car is parked in the company parking lot you are not allowed to smoke there either.

Make 2010 your year to take control and quit that nasty habit.

Good for you, John. You probably started back when it wasn't as known how serious it is as far as health goes. Yes, smokers stink.

I just started reading your link and got to #2: cigarettes are crawling with germs.

Going back to read more. I want to find something equally as gross.

I also thought that #67 was interesting because it said a non-smoker can enjoy chocolate more because smoking can make a smoker less sensitive to sweets. I know someone that smokes that doesn't like any sweets and even thinks fruit is too sweet. I wonder if smoking has her tastebuds messed up the opposite way.

My biggest reason for quitting smoking? Besides the smell, I couldn't stand spending money on something I planned to burn up..

I had my 4 year quit anniversary in March. In that time, I've noticed that food actually has a flavor! I gained weight, and had to get a new wardrobe. I still have those 30 lbs., but the clothes I got are now too big for me. After telling my physician of this, I was told that the weight gain metabolized and converted to muscle. I walked miles and miles to exercise. It's amazing how a person's senses come back after stopping smoking. Smell, taste, sight, hearing.

I saved enough money to make a substantial down payment on a home...closing on the 1st of July. The great thing is I'll be able to outfit the place with new appliances, including a washer and dryer. At this point, I've declared my house a no smoking area.

Either ignited, snuffed, or just a pack laying there, they really stink. I was behind a car at a stop light with my windows closed, and I swear I could smell the cigarette of the driver in front of me.

Money (the saving of) is a real motivator. Consider the health risks of smoking and a focused mind will know that the best choice is not to choose a smoke.
