I miss having a stable childhood, and having the freedom of being a child. That stability and freedom was short lived and by the time it was safe to be myself again, I was a teenager and the rules had changed!

It seems that childhood is over in a blink of an eye. When I was young, I couldn't wait to be an "adult" now all I think about is how nice it would be to go back and be a child again! But I guess we kind of do that when we get old and end up in a nursing home having someone taking care of us again. It's a vicious circle!
It seems like only yeaterday I was crossing the street in the middle of the block. I just bought a candy bar from a local small gas station. The owner wore one of those caption hats like Marlon Brando wore in the "Wild One".
Yes it was in the fifties and as I looked at my change, most were those Liberty coins. I thought to myself. "It is not going to get any better that it is right now and I know some day I will miss it"
Simply said
I DO MISS IT!

....Now, a very great man once said
That some people rob you with a fountain pen
It didn’t take too long to find out
Just what he was talkin’ about
A lot of people don’t have much food on their table
But they got a lot of forks ’n’ knives
And they gotta cut somethin’....

I miss the innocence and the way I thought my mother knows the answer to everything. The way we used to mingle with everyone and how world was a better place to live. The eagerness to watch 8 am cartoons, the way we used to fight, the hatred towards bed and sleep. I miss those carefree days.

LOL, great point! I thought my mom knew everything.

I remembered one thing that I miss, besides all off my mom's cooking. I was looking at a cooking magazine today that showed a recipe for making pie crust cookies. I remember it was a big deal whenever my mom made a pie to take the leftover crust trimmings and sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar and bake them. This recipe reminded me of that.
Who doesn't miss watching their mom bake and getting to lick the bowl or the spatula? I know, I get those all to myself when I bake, but something about waiting for your mom to get finished so you get to lick the bowl. Didn't matter what raw eggs were in it. lol
