Hmm, does that mean I'm not fun because I always ask for some kind of liquor on my Xmas list?
lol No, I meant they didn't sound like much fun in general to buy for. I think the stopping at the liquor store may be your best bet and not worry about all their likes and dislikes and hobbies or no hobbies etc. etc.. lol Just buy a bottle and be done. I think that is what I would do if I was buying for them.
And really adding lotto tickets can actually be fun. We do that in every one's stockings and no one can scratch them off until we do it together and it's fun to see if someone won anything. Of course it's always the usually 1-2.00 prizes or a free ticket but the kids get a kick out of the thrill they could actually win more for a few minutes. lol
I'm about halfway done. Spent more time looking than finding anything.
I was up until past 1 am making a batch of mint chocolate liqueur last night. Those mint leaves didn't look too healthy, half dried out and icky. Just barely had enough usable leaves for my mix. Had to get it going as it needs to sit a week before bottling.
I have a fancy crystal bottle I picked up for $3 a few years ago I'm going to be using. I found out the glass bottle stopper just sits in the top and isn't tight fitting. Then I was at a store and saw wine stoppers made with antique door knobs glued to a cork. I thought they were cool looking, but expensive. I found directions online how to make your own stopper with a door or drawer knob. I can make mine for much less. That is going to replace the original stopper.
We've already got that covered.. there's a charity locally that does wrapping for free (or a donation) that we plan to use.. For a $20 donation to Cystic Fibrosis, we can get all our wrapping done without all the hassle!
I actually use to run out right after Christmas and purchase things for the following year that I could find on really great sales, mostly toys. I didn't do that at all last year and it looks like not this year either.
But what about everyone else? Do you shop right after when there is so many clearance sales and put it away for next year?
Nope, I may pick up something during the year if I see something, but that doesn't happen too often. I'm the type to wait until Nov. and Dec. Will probably be the same for this year since we are still trying to get back on our feet and pay off some bills. Lots of other stuff that is more important first.
Only after Christmas shopping I ever did was wrapping paper and bags. One year I picked up a few nice glass dishes to be used for future gifts such as weddings. The prices were too good to resist.
I bought wrapping paper and all the Christmas cards I will need for next Christmas. I also bought a couple bottles of McGraw cologne (my fav) for my hubby. Valentines Day and my hubby's birthday are next month so they will come in handy, plus I got them for only a quarter of what they normally sell for.
I haven't bought wrapping paper in a few years. I think I bought so much that I don't need it for a while. I still have 4 rolls that aren't even open and not including partial rolls.
I was going through what I have here and I can't see having to buy cards, boxes, bags, or tissue paper next year. I also have wrapping paper but may have to buy a few rolls that are more kid related but the dollar store sells that cheap enough. So I am pretty set for that. Oh almost forgot, have a bunch of gift tags too.
If I see a few really great deals on toys for the grand kids I may pick them up but I think the better way is to start a Christmas Club Savings Account and put some money when ever we can in it to use starting next Oct and just go out and buy everything then. I found great sales this year and now that most of the kids are getting older it's harder to predict what they will want in a year from now.
I Oh almost forgot, have a bunch of gift tags too.
I have enough gift tags to last 5, 6, 7 years. I like this one pack I picked up at Walgreen's. It has probably 100 tags and every one is different. No repeats whatsoever. That never happens with a pack that big. They have some really nice looking tag designs and all have sparkly glitter on them. I think I paid a whole dollar for those.
