Too Small For Insurance?

On Wednesday morning, "The Today Show" covered the story of 2-year-old Aislin Bates. Though she weighs just 22 pounds (in the third percentile range for kids her age), her doctor has described her as being perfectly healthy, never having been sick with anything more than a cold. Still, United HealthCare didn't buy it, saying that the child didn't meet height and weight standards. So, no insurance for Aislin.

I am so glad we had decent (union) coverage when my oldest daughter was born. She was a preemie and was quite small for her age for years. In fact she was only 29 pounds going into Kindergarten.

Now they refused a child that was 22 pounds at age 2! Get real.

This is why there should be a push for the "public option".
While insurance companies are constructing magnificent architectural wonders,pay hefty bonuses,go on elaborate seminars/getaways, they reject any possibility of respect for humanity/life because they want to maintain their over-excessive life style.

I used to work for an insurance company and they work for themselves, not the customers. They are about saving the company money.

Wait, I never got a hefty wage, getaway, or even made a decent wage. I made a whole $8.25 an hour.

I've worked in Insurance as well, the financial end of it... I'll agree that they are all about themselves & the customer is not always right, when it comes to them handing out Insurance.

Like yourself, I never got any of the perks mentioned, but i do recall the people in the big offices taking lots of trips & such
