Have you ever stopped to get gas and not long after driving off your engine starts acting funny? People blame the gas stations, water in the gas is one I hear a lot.
Big oil says you need to use the gas you buy before 3 months, 6 months or so or the gas gets stale and can "harm" your engine. They say if you have gas older than say 1 year you should dispose of the stale gas.
Well when your filling up you think your getting fresh gas right.
Can you imagine someone filling up large oil tankers with gas, parking them out at sea for say 6 months or till gas prices go up then unload this
Stale Gas to your local gas stations and this stale gas ends up in your vehicle? Well Yes this can happen.

So does this mean we are getting gas older than 6 months? Big oil says old gas can harm our vehicle engines.
You'll never see anyone protect the consumer when it comes to big profits and oil = $$$$$
