Ice cream vendors in the Mexican town of Dolores Hidalgo have featured such flavors as beer, cheese, cactus petal, avocado, tequila, corn, black and red mole, pigskin and shrimp.
Interesting story. I got a real kick out of these weird flavors though. I have a feeling they would not go over to good around here. Can't image eating a cactus petal ice cream cone. lol Or how about a pigskin sundae with some cracklings on top? lol Or a 2 scoop sundae with a beer, and tequila ice cream with a cherry on top? lol I wonder if you ate this and drove back home if you would be driving under the influence?
OK, I would have to try a frozen shrimp ice cream on a stick.
Sorry that is all gross sounding. lol
Almost as bad as some of the Jelly Belly candy flavors you can buy.
Squid Gut Ice Cream. Squid innards are often used as a condiment in Japanese cuisine, which I suppose makes it inevitable that it would find its way into ice cream. We should be fortunate Squid Gut Ice Cream is not the full squid.
Say what???
OK, check out this next article if you like to read about the very strange things people think is actually flavors ice cream should be. But let me warn you, after reading about these, you will want to stick with straight vanilla next time. lol
101 Frightening Ice Cream Flavors From Around The World

Nope, didn't have ice cream yesterday. I did see cannoli, spumoni and ameretto shakes at Festa Italiana. I don't see how cannoli would taste like anything but sweet unless there were chunks of pastry in it or chocolate chips. Spumoni would no longer be spumoni with all the flavors blended unless they offered it as a layered shake which sounds like an interesting idea.
I've seen the 101 flavors of ice cream list. I think I saw 2 I'd try on the whole thing and even then lots of yucky flavors. I'm guessing the weird Japanese flavors with shrimp or other non-sweet foods aren't really sweet ice creams like we have here. Not that it would taste any better.

I had a tiny container of Blue Bunny Banana Split. I thought I'd try it since I never had it before. Next time I will stick to my favorite mint chocolate chip.

So, CindyLouWho, are you trying to say that the Banana Split ice cream from the Blue Bunny wasn't so great, or is it that you just enjoy the mint chocolate chip more?

The banana split ice cream was alright but as long as I was going to cheat on my diet then the mint chocolate chip ice cream would have been much more worth it.
