I'm not musically talented, but I never learned to play an instrument either. I can't read music, but who knows if I could learn. Singing is out of the question.
I'm ok at writing, but I'll never be a gifted writer. I struggle with writing when it comes to resumes and cover letters. I used to struggle with school papers, at least the college level ones which require a bit more than high school. I really don't like writing articles. I think going back to school didn't help that either. The dreaded school papers.
I was in a bar last night and a couple of Hispanic guys played some Mariachi music on the jukebox. There were some other people there who did not like it and were making very rude remarks about how they should go back to their own country, etc. and they were saying them loud enough for them to hear too. Eventually, the two groups were yelling at each other across the bar so I took that as a good time for me to leave there! I didn't want to be a witness to a bar fight!
I also dislike predjudice, but I hate even more when someone plays the race card!!!
I went on a date a few years back & we met at the casino. He arrived before I did & when I arrived I found someone leaving right up front by the door, so I took their parking spot. On the way out, my date walked me to my car & we were going to meet at a local Mexican restaurant. As we approached my car he said "how did you get a spot up front?? It's BS that you get to park up front but when I got here the only spot was way in back. If I was white I'd be parked up front &*&^%%^&" he went OFF! I was shocked!!
First of all... parking spots are predjudice??? seriously?? I couldn't believe it! I pointed out to him that I am Mexican so I could play that card too, but it would be ignorant! & it just so happen someone was leaving when I got there. he went on a rampage about how this country is so predjudice blah blah lol WOW! needless to say, dinner didnt happen. I told him I couldnt do the race card & thanks anyway!
I see a lot of race card thrown around in my job! hate it!
The race card works both ways. Some use to their advantage to gain sympathy or make others look bad. Others use it to be rude.
I hate when people use it to say someone is being racist when they cleary aren't. It's like some people think that any comment is racist. I see this online a lot. This ruins it for those that have a right to complain about real racism.
I had a good laugh the other day when someone made a comment to a news article online calling white people, crackers. So my husband put his 2 cents in, but did it in a humorous way that made the guy look like an idiot, but everyone else was laughing about it. You just can't take things too personally when it's an idiot do the insulting. Not that cracker would ever offend me. I think it's a lame insult.
I hate it when people are too lazy to return their shopping carts to a corral or to the store. Menards in town here kills me the most. There is a place to put your cart within 6 car spots yet people will do crap like push them up to another car or put them half parked in a median. How lazy can you get? I also hate it when people park in the fire lane to load when they have a big loading zone right in front of the building!!! Just move your car over a little people and stop thinking you're special somehow.

Maybe the stores should follow Aldi's example where you have to put a quarter in to get a cart. Then you don't get it back unless you bring the cart back. It would save on having to have someone bring in carts all the time plus maybe they wouldn't leave them all over the parking lot!
What if people don't have a quarter on them? Not everybody does. There's where you would run into a problem.
How about we have someone in the parking lot to smack people aside the head when they get lazy? A little old lady could do that job. It would be like your grandmother scolding you. lol
Pet peeve: Explaining Weight Watchers to my husband 200 times and he still can't figure it out. He wants to lose the weight, but not have to make an effort. I don't know what part of accuracy he doesn't get. Guessing if he ate 1 or 2 servings of food isn't how a diet works. You have to get the amount correct. Taking a wild guess at how many points a food is doesn't work either. That can explain why he hasn't even lost a pound since he started this in summer.
I keep telling him if he isn't losing weight, then he's doing something wrong and needs to check how accurate he is.
He wanted to do this so bad, but now that I showed him how, he doesn't do it according to directions, which really are simple.
Very frustrating since I don't know what other way to explain it. Am I missing something? I don't think so. It's not that complicated. I lost weight on it, so he should be able to do the same.
He also thinks he can get away with only writing down what he eats sometimes. He'll skip days of writing it down or try to go back 2 or 3 days and remember it all. I keep saying write it down the same day and you won't have problems remembering what you ate. I can't even remember what I ate yesterday, so how is he going to remember what he ate with the short term memory problem?
Anyone else want to teach my husband Weight Watchers or any easy diet plan?
I want to loose weight soooo bad but something isn't right up stairs. When I get hungry I just forget everything. Kind of like a foodaholic. I'm not in denial or confused about it though. If I want to loose weight I just need to cut back on the food, pick smarter food and maybe just maybe do some exercise. Seems so simple but yet I never get it done. For the most part, if a person can't loose weight then they're not really committed.
Think Menards would be cool with a vigilantly cart protector? Could be an interesting way to get my exercise, slapping people up side the head, lol!
That's why I've done ok with Weight Watchers. There are no bad foods like most diets. You can eat whatever you want. It just has to do with how much. Need to lose that old diet myth about bad foods vs. good foods. True, eating more fruits and veggies are good for you, but I've still had my share of french fries and pizza. I just watch the portions. Not that hard at all. I just make sure I eat more veggies between the pizza and ice cream. It's about balance and reading those portion sizes on the labels.
My husband thinks that if he loses weight he'll have to give up everything. I haven't given up anything. Just the bigger portions, that's all.
He's the want that's been saying for years he needs to lose weight and how much it bothers him. He was bugging me for a while to start Weight Watchers online so I could write down all the info for him. Soooo, it's going to be up to him if he wants to lose the love handles and blubber. Don't like it, then stop complaining is what I say.
It ticks me off when I am out ice fishing and some bonehead drives back and forth past my shanty at 50+MPH!.....or when boneheads bring out their 4-wheelers and think the ice is a personal racetrack!

Agreed, there is plenty of ice in this state, no need to be near the fishermen when racing around.
Pet peeve: When someone I know from childhood/high school sees me in a bar and is shocked that...omg...I drink. Geez, I go to the bar on the weekend and yes, I have drinks. Why is that so odd to them?
Last night a guy that my family lived by up until I was 5 years old assumed that my parents never drank and thought that my parents were too strict. I said, "You were about how old? Six or so?" Were my parents supposed to whip out the beer every time the neighbor kids came over. lol
It just kind of irked me when he said that. I never felt that my parents were too strict since they gave us a lot of freedom growing up.
This isn't the first time this has happened where someone didn't think I went to bars. Hmm, get with the program. I've been doing it since the '80s. I love to see bands, dance and socialize...in bars! Better make that front page news and post it on Facebook and Twitter. The shock, the horror!
I guess I didn't want to tell the idiot that I talked to last night that I thought they all kind of were a bunch of losers in their family or that even at the age of 5 I was so grossed out by their pig sty house that I wouldn't eat anything from there.
Pet peeve: Clingy, needy drunks that won't leave people alone. They often are very critical and seem to want to get under people's skin. Somehow they think they are being charming. It's like every move that you make or everything you say is criticized.
Or the clingy, needy drunks that think that they can hit on you because they think you enjoy that. I guess the fact that my husband is next to me, doesn't stop them.
It's not all drunks that bother me. It's the ones that have to be annoying and jerks about it. It's usually a small percentage that have to be like that. Most people will leave you alone.
This has nothing to do with my conversation last night. He wasn't being a jerk or annoying, just being ignorant.
Speaking of pet peeves...I was on another public site yesterday that also has a "pet peeves" forum and a woman posted about how she hates when people don't use correct grammar, etc. when they post online but in her post, she started three sentences with the word "And" and she misspelled several words besides!
I was nice and pointed it out to her but she said "In case you didn't know, it's grammatically okay to start sentences with the word And now." I told her I think my son's college English professor would probably disagree with her on that. LOL What do you say Blue?
I've started sentences with and or but. I think it's ok to do it, but not 3 times in one post. I've seen it written that way in articles. It might be considered more casual. You certainly wouldn't use it in business letters.
I know I'm not perfect with sentence structure, but who want to overthink things for posting online? As long as I spell correctly that's all I want to worry about. Otherwise it reminds me of all those papers I had to write in my written communications class and they really were nitpicky about every little thing. It kind of took the fun out of writing.
Pet peeve: If it tastes good then why is it high in calories? If it tastes boring, then why is it good for you? Someone needs to fix this.
Try eating upside down. It just may reverse that thinking a little.

Pet peeve: People that think we should work for free!
We got a call from a woman wanting us to do some work for them yesterday and she admitted they don't have the money to pay us. So I said we can't because we require money up front before we do any work. Later her husband called and I said "no" to him too. THEN his father called and said he would make sure we got paid. Ya right! I looked them up on the court website and they all have bad credit and a history of not paying their bills. The father insisted he talk to my husband after I told him no, so I said he wasn't available. The guy told me to have my husband call him today but my hubby said he isn't calling him back and to let them find someone else to take advantage of instead! We don't want to have to take people to court to try to collect what they owe us! Geesh!
Another pet peeve: Why is it when some men call a business they have the opinion that women don't know anything and they insist on talking to a man? I've had that happen on several occasions! I wonder if they think they can B.S. another man more than they can a woman? My husband has had a few guys tell him they didn't like dealing with me on the phone and have even used the "B" word when referring to me. LOL This was after I had told them they had to pay money in advance for work when they didn't think they should have to and another time when I had to chase someone down to try to collect the balance of what they owed us. I think my husband is too much of a pushover and lets people get away with stuff whereas I don't let that happen.
Pet peeve: People that think we should work for free!
This happens a lot in graphic design. People think that it doesn't take that long to do things because all they see is the final product and not the steps it took to get there. They don't realize the education that is needed to do it. We need to know a lot of software that isn't the easiest to learn. It's expensive software and it changes all the time, so that's more to learn. Not only that we have to learn the rules of design, know about fonts, colors, prepress, and keep up with what's popular. We don't get paid to learn new software or to keep up with trends. That we do on our own time.
People don't take graphic design as seriously as other lines of work. They think nothing of paying a plumber or electrician big bucks, but have a fit when graphic design services cost half of that per hour (or less). Many expect all these changes to their project a freebie. Some think that because we do something creative, we should work cheap or for free. This isn't a hobby, it's a job. Just like photographers, web designers and writers. They get the same treatment. Freelance also doesn't mean work for free. I try not to use that term. I prefer self employed, business owner or independent designer. Even saying you do side jobs sounds better (in addition to a full time job). If you want to be taken seriously, you need to give yourself a job title that is serious.
