Color Your Mood
Research confirms that changing your mood may be as simple as changing the colors around you. Clothing, room decors, even a small colors object like accessories or a handbag will give you benefits. For example:
Blue. Any shade can have a calming effect and creates feeling of serenity.
Green. Brings balance to your mind and smoothes out your hectic day-to-day routine.
Orange. Makes you feel more optimistic. A pick-me-up when you’re sluggish.
Red. Increases your energy level and stimulates your heart rate.
Purple. Shades of lilac and violet generate creativity
I wear a lot of blue and purple. I also wear pink, burgundy, and red. I like a lot of color.
All my walls are off-white, with the bedroom being blue. When we built the house we made it easy by painting it all off-white. Everything goes with that color. Then we added the color with our carpets, curtains and other interior decor.
My car is red. I've also owned a couple of blue cars and a burgundy one.
My favorite color is any shade of purple. We are getting ready to do some major interior painting soon but so far I only am thinking of a sage color for the living room for one. Not sure if Purple will make it's way on the walls. lol
I do remember one time my mom painted her bedroom a pretty lilac color and her drapes were pretty solid darker lilac with panels of white with small lilac flowers. I so totally loved just sitting in there it was so pretty. Think that is when I realized I loved any shade of purple.
Not sure what it says about me but my favorite color to wear is black.
If I'm wearing blue jeans I usually have some kind of black shirt on. Other colors in it is ok but mostly black.
Orange, green, even purple just doesn't do much for me I think.
Pink is ok but I'm not a pinky person. lol
Blues, and blacks, and maybe some red but not solid red unless it's a sweater.
You confused me somewhat. Your second last post says you love purple, but the last post says purple doesn't do much for you.
LOL Don't ever try to figure me out, I confuse myself most of the time! lol
Actually what I meant was, I totally love the color purple BUT wearing purple doesn't do much for me. My complexion and purple isn't a great match. Guess it depends on the shade of purple.
I love purple in the world around me not on me I guess. lol

I'm guessing there are some shades of purple that do look good on you. I think I'm a good judge of color and what looks good on people or things. Often people think a color looks bad on them or a another color looks good on them, when it's the other way around. It all depends on your hair, eye and skin color and what will look good.
For example, with me I look better in cool shades of red, but not good in warm shades of red that have that orangish look to them. I look better in cool shades in general.
One way to tell if a color looks good on you or not is by the color that people seem to notice you more in or where you get lots of compliments. I've noticed throughout my life that I get more compliments when I wear blue, purple or burgundy clothes. Here's a tip you'll love. Colors that look good on you will make you look younger and make wrinkles or dark circles less noticable. I used to have a book on this whole color thing.
It's funny I just looked down at myself today and noticed I put on a burgundy top, and realized that I actually wear a lot of burgundy. lol Guess I never thought about it before. I do like rich darker colors.
But you are right about listening to people. It never fails when I wear pink I have someone say, oh that looks good on you, it brings the coloring out in my cheeks. lol But me? I don't like wearing pink much. Unless it's a pink/black combo. Love pink and black together, not just plain pink.
I think its a weight thing, dark clothes look more slimming and I've gained some in the last few years (due to personal stress) and think that is why I tend to go with darker colors. lol
I have kinda golden, reddish hair, light completion, and brown eyes (highlights), guess the pink brings something out in me that people see but I don't.
Back to Moods...one thing for sure, if you feel good in the outfit and choice of color you have on, it will make for a good mood.
I wear a lot of black but green is my favorite color. I also wear some purple but only the darker shades of green and purple. I had the color test done once and I was told that I look better in the warmer shades.

Most of the rooms in my house are white or cream. But I have burgundy & tan theme going in the living room.

Even when we ordered our new van we said we didn't care what color it was we just needed one right away. We had no idea what color it would be until it got here and we saw that it was red! LOL

Oh that's too funny. The only red van I ever owned a young mom was at a stop sign (just a block from my house), waiting to pull onto the road. I was on the road right in front of her waiting to make a left turn onto the side road. She pulled out and ran right into me saying she didn't see me. lol RED! You think someone could see a big red van in front of them. Of course she didn't have any insurance but I will say she made payments to me and paid it all off.
Anyways, seems like I'm in a theme of silver right now. The van and car I drive are both sliver. And it suits me. Guess you can say it suits my mood when driving.
If I actually had my choice of colors for my car/van I'm not sure what color I would pick. Guess it depends on the model. I never had a 'choice' of colors before, we always buy a little bit used so it depends on the deal they are giving as to the color it happens to be.
I do remember one time my oldest daughter had a real purple Hyundai car. We use to always call it her Barney Car. lol When thinking back to it we still refer to it as the Barney Car.
I always wanted a purple car. Not real bright, but a dark metallic purple color. They are hard to find in purple. My husband does autobody on the side and purple always sells well.

You would need to wear warm shades of color just by what you said about the hair color if that's your natural color.
It would depend on your skin color, not the lightness or darkness of it. Skin colors can be tricky to guess sometimes. Eye color would go by if it a warm brown or a cool brown. If you hair color is what you say it is, those will also be warm. At least this is what I learned from the color book I had.
If you look at makeup you'll notice some brands say if they are for warm or cool colors. This is exactly what I'm talking about...eye, skin and hair colors.
Always remember with everything that lighting can make a color look different. Natural light works best for seeing colors accurately.
