Cant see the video (at work) so it wont get stuck in my head
I usually say "see ya" or "Peace" as i walk away or whatever. never really thought about if i say it different online vs' in person, but i suppose it's the same... i think.
I think I'm about the same online as in person. I usually say "see ya" or "see you later" or "bye." In letters it would depend on the situation. If it's job related then I put "thank you" or "sincerely."
To my friends, I usually say "Catch ya later" and to all members of my family I say "Love you and talk to ya later". In an email, I always put TTYL except for in business correspondence of course, then I use "sincerely" or "respectfully yours".
When I drop my kids off at school or I leave to go somewhere I always say, bye..love ya. That's after a hug and kiss and my son usually squeezes my hand as a little gesture. That's because when they were younger we use to squeeze hands 3 little times to say a silent 'I Love You' if we were just walking or somewhere with people. Our little secret code I guess. So he still will sometimes give my hand a squeeze before he leaves.
When I write someone a pm I usually tell them, take care.
Finishing a phone call I will normally say: if I'm the one that has to hang up, ok, I've gotta go, talk later bye. If they have to hang up, it's usually just, ok talk later, bye.
If I'm talking to a someone that I called for information etc. I try to always say thank you before saying goodbye.
Variety. Except for the kids going to school. I've always been a fan of Garrison Keillor's, The Writer's Almanac. It's a 5 minute daily podcast, usually including a bit of history about a writer (fascinating stuff) and a poem. His sign-off for the five minute program is "Be well, do good work and keep in touch." For my kids, every day, my farewell is Study hard and learn a lot, and have some fun.
Other than that, I'm all over the board. Fare well. Thank you is often a part of a goodbye: thanks for coming, thanks for having us. Auf Wiedersehen. Don't be a stranger. See you when I see you. Take care. Goodbye. Good to see you. Be careful driving. Have a safe journey home. Those are heartfelt.
So, may the road rise up to meet you and the wind be always at your back. Fare thee well.
