$600 is the most... I had just moved into a new apartment (2001) and while moving in i was putting some boxes in the basement & seen a rolled up newspaper in the corner of one of the closets, so i pulled it down & looked... $600 rolled up in that paper!
Story was (landlord) that the last lady had to move out because her husband went to jail for selling drugs & she couldn't afford the place, she had moved back to her home state with family or something like that... I assume she never knew the money was there...
I actually held onto it for atleast a month, no one ever came to claim it & it became mine
Yep, i kept it.

That WAS good luck Latina. I would've kept it too!
When we bought our house, we found out that two owners back had found a bunch of cash hidden behind the drawers in the kitchen when they did remodeling. There was an elderly couple who had lived here that ended up in a nursing home and their kids didn't know they had hidden money in the house. After they died, the kids sold the house and when they heard the new owners found money they tried to claim it. The court awarded it to the new owners because they bought the house "as is with everything in it". They never did say how much they found but I heard it was in the thousands. It would've been nice if it was still here when we bought the house and we would've found it instead!
I walk around alot (20 daily miles). I find money laying around alot. Filling stations/Sari-Sari stores are a good place to scour for money. I don't find alot of money on the hiking trails, but city streets are flowing with unclaimed moola.
If you're lucky enough, you can go to a casino. People leave money there all the time. I'm the kind of guy that walks into a casino with a $20 in my pocket, and walk out with a hundred times what I walk in with.
Hehe, thanks for the bump.. meant to add last night that I found a dime in the dryer and a couple pennies while walking.. change is easy to spot because it's shiny and round. I usually find something every other day or so in the apt. complex parking lot.
I always have lots of quarters, i use them at work.
There was $2.50 in quarters sitting on the end table on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday... i started to wonder if it was mine, since the kids had not taken it yet. Finally i picked it up & added it to the change pocket of my purse. Just today my son asks who took his $2.50 off the table lol
I asked why it sat there so long & he says he just had no need for it then & left it there, but he wanted me to get him some hot cheetos today & remembered to ask who took it... so i almost found some money lol
I have found money on the floor at the bars. You would think I'd find it more often since drunk people drop money and don't even realize it.
Just think about all the people the leave money sitting on the bar and others take it when they aren't looking. That is why I never leave money sitting on the bar.
Many a bartender has scooped up the change off the bar while "cleaning" the bar with a rag.. old trick.

I don't either & if i'm leaving the bartender a tip i hand it to them or watch them take it before walking away.. too many scandalous people out there.
My husband found a $50 laying the floor of the bathroom at a gas station. He came out of the bathroom saying that it turned out to be a cheap night for us. I didn't get it at first. Then he whispers that he found $50 on the floor and it was his now.
Good catch! WoooHoo.. don't you love when that happens?

My daughter was walking out from school not long ago and where I was parked up by a fence she looked over and found a $20.00 bill stuck in the fence with some weeds. I started to leave and decided we should go back and look some more in case there was another one stuck. lol There wasn't but still 20.00 is great. She has great eyes and sees things like this. Me? I can walk right over money on the ground and not notice.
While conducting one of my "Urban Hikes", I was fortunate enough to spy a twenty dollar bill lying unattended and abandoned looking on the sidewalk.
In order to facilitate a better place for the currency, and to do my part to to keep New Holstein and America a cleaner place, I picked it up and put it in my pocket.
Can't go wrong there! As my buddy would say, "that's 40 spins on the Royal Reels!" (slot machine)

Found $5 on the floor last night at the bar. Had to look around to make sure no one saw me pick it up. I'm not going to ask anyone if they dropped it, since everyone will say it's theirs. I wish more drunks would drop money on the floor.
