Re: Craigslist And Illiterate people?¿?

Huh? This reminds me of something I still chuckle over...my husband and I were at a little get-together with some friends and there was a guy there complaining about an employee of his that couldn't spell correctly and would mess up work orders. He finished his tirade with "He should have E for e-lliterate branded on his forehead." I almost spit my drink! Ha!

Re: Craigslist And Illiterate people?¿?

That was hard to read! LOL

Speaking of Craig's list....I've only gone there once to find a welder my husband was looking to buy (found one in LaCrosse). Anyhow, while on the site, I thought I'd check out their other forums. OH MY GOODNESS! I looked at the personals (just out of curiosity) and I couldn't believe what I read and saw! There are some really strange people out there who are just looking for a one night stand. Do they actually get "dates" that way? I'm no prude by a long way, but I was shocked when I saw that they put pictures of their "lower regions" on there! Isn't that classified as internet porn? Or do they consider it a form of art? It makes me wonder how many kids look at it on there!

Re: Craigslist And Illiterate people?¿?

I glanced at the personals one time and didn't see pictures thank goodness but the things people were looking for... lol

Problem is people just don't care about morals anymore. Sad.

Re: Craigslist And Illiterate people?¿?

I've been on Craig's list lately looking for furniture. I would like to redo our living room and I need a new computer desk and a few other things. I am tired of everything we have. I'm lucky as far as looking for things like this since we live between the Milwaukee area, and the Chicago area, lots to choose from.

I've also sold things on Craigs list too. The biggest item was a car last fall to someone out of Milwaukee.

Re: Craigslist And Illiterate people?¿?

Wow, nice spelling. That's more than a laptop in the dark problem. You see such bad spelling all the time on the internet. Just look at comments people leave on things like youtube. I also hate "internet speak." When it's done on purpose to try and look cool. People who type dis, dat, dem, wit, nao, liek, etc, etc. Hate it when the English language gets butchered.

I've seen some odd things on Craigslist, especially looking for jobs in the arts section. You often see someone looking for a woman to pose nude for photography. I always want to say what are they really looking for? lol

Re: Craigslist And Illiterate people?¿?

On another forum, that i use to visit they had a thread called "the best & worst of craigslist"... The stuff people found and posted from their areas (all different states) was always good for a laugh, however some got so naughty that they ended up splitting it up & starting a 'best & worst' in the adult section of the forum as well as the reg forum.

Craigslist is a strange place, I couldn't imagine shopping for a mate there lol
I will admit however that i too have been looking for furniture there lately, i need a change.

Stories like these scare me... There's been a lot of crime reported from people selling & buying from there... i'd never go alone.

This one happened recently & less than 10 minute drive from my home.

Craigslist seller gets pistol-whipped

Check the pet section, it's amazing the things people will come up with when asking questions about their pets or putting other comments on there. . .

Re: Craigslist And Illiterate people?¿?

Most people are good but yea there sure are some winners aren't there!

I've sold a bunch of stuff on Craigslist and just love it when they come and give me money, then haul away the thing I didn't know how to get rid of before.

The best one was, I posted an ad looking for a free fax machine, for a friend who was very old and invalid, who was writing a book. Payment would be a signed copy of this book the man was writing, if someone was willing to help him out. I would do the pick up and delivery for him.
The nicest woman called offering an old fax machine that worked fine, and he was so happy to have it. I think he liked the company and conversation more, though. I supplied him with paper and hooked it all up. Right after that he passed away, and never finished his book. Dang.
But I thought that was a nice testament to how good people want to help others, and Craigslist is a good vehicle for that.
