" Although the mouth of a typical dog is full of bacteria, it's "species specific." So, if a dog were to lick a person, most of the germs wouldn't transfer. "Bottom line -- you're more likely to get a serious illness from kissing a person than kissing a dog."
I don't care how much bacteria is in a mouth of a dog. They lick themselves and stick everything in their mouth they shouldn't. Yuck! Also, dog's don't brush and floss their teeth. I get grossed out when I see people let a dog lick their mouth or lick from the same food. I once saw someone let the dog lick their ice cream cone and then the guy sticks it in his mouth. Ick! I wouldn't even want a person licking my ice cream cone. People are so gross sometimes.
Only person allowed to kiss me is my husband so it doesn't matter what the rest of the humans have for germs. I'm not kissing them.
Dogs might brush their teeth if they were self-aware or even socially aware.. I used to tell Cindy that Rascal can't brush his teeth because he has no thumbs.. guess that leaves it up to us:
I'm with Blue on the 'no lick' from dogs. I have read many times over how a dogs mouth is cleaner than etc. etc.. but I think it's the texture of the smooth tongue with all the slimy saliva that is always dripping off that just grosses me out. No thanks.
Here's another thing to think about. Our last dog (hopefully last one for a very long time) use to always insist on licking my feet at night when I sat down. I tried to keep my socks on as long as possible to keep away from her but in the summer I loved going barefoot alot which was difficult to stay away from her then. So here comes this dog licking away at me (with me trying to get away) and then I watch anyone trying to pet her later and she is trying to lick their hand. Feet, then most likely her butt, then hand.
Actually I do remember way back trying to find the answer to this weirdness of our cat and again checking out the link you provided still only shows good guesses but no real for sure answers to this issue.
Cats like the sound it makes?
Could be a good smell on the bag?
Something lacking in the diet? etc...
Strange so many things can be answered but something as simple as 'why a cat licks a plastic bag' seems to be difficult to actually find a real answer. lol
Seems to me we usually did it ourselves.. I wouldn't want someone cleaning up after me if I could help it.
I had to use the bathroom right after coming out of recovery when I had my appendix out.. they asked if I wanted a bedpan and I said "no, thanks".. practically crawled to the restroom, but I did it, lol!
And, yup.. that's a pineapple for the toilet tank..

Gross Cindy!! But you still gotta love them.
Actually the other night my grandson woke up to find that the cat threw up in his bed. Needless to say he would not sleep in there the rest of the night and my daughter was washing his blankets first thing in the morning. But you can't really get mad when you look at the cat and all you see is how much they love you. lol (purr...purr...purr)

Now you know why I don't like pets on the bed. Never had barf on my bed unless it was my own.

Ick! I don't know that I'd like my cat so much if she did that lol
My cat chills on the top of the lounger chair in my livingroom, but she isn't allowed in my bed. My daughter does let her sleep with her in bed though, just not MY bed. I dislike any animal being where I sleep. However, I don't recall ever seeing puke or anything nasty from my cat anywhere in the house, other than the litter box. I think it would be a deal breaker for me & she might have to go bye bye.
Seeing someone spitting loogies!! I especially hate when men (I'm sure gross women do it too, I have just never witnessed it) will work it up in their throat & let it fly... I C K!!!
