Ever Have A Really Bad Day At Work?
Here's a guy whose day at work took a wrong turn:
Ever have a really bad day at work? What happened?
Quit, just feel like quitting, or get fired?

Re: Ever Have A Really Bad Day At Work?
I have had many bad days at work in my life!
Currently i work in a lab with many men, however i share an office with 3 men & let me tell you... these men are the biggest whiney, back stabbing, gossipers i have ever met! I truly was happy to get away from working with a bunch of drama queen women when i took this job, but wow these guys take the cake when it comes to drama!
90% of the time i just shake my head & walk away when they start backstabbing eachother in front of me, 10% of the time (try not to waste too much energy on their drama) i tell them how utterly childish they are, but NEVER do i get involved or join in on their gossipy ways. They have involved me a few times & i finally told the lot of them "look man i know that you all talk smack about one another every time someone walks out, so i know you all do it to me as well & that's fine, just don't get me involved and let me know when you're over it!"
I've done some hard manual labor (horrible jobs) in my time & that was nothing compared to working in an office with a bunch of drama queen like men.

Re: Ever Have A Really Bad Day At Work?
One of the things I hate most is working with gossipers and whiners so I know where you're coming from.. the best you can do is be blunt and tell them you don't want to hear it.
My major bad days usually center around malfunctioning computer equipment.. tho I have had some injuries on a construction site from being a klutz (nail thru foot, gash in leg, etc).

Re: Ever Have A Really Bad Day At Work?
One place I worked at was like working for the Devil Wears Prada boss. I couldn't believe some of the things that came out of boss lady's mouth at times. Starting fights with her husband on my phone right in front of me. Bringing her little bratty 4 year old to work, swearing and yelling at him constantly while the kid didn't listen anyway. The place I worked at was no place for a child and certainly if anyone found out, the company would have been in big trouble for having a kid running around machinery.
There was the time the little brat (I called him the devil child) cut himself on a razor blade and while he sat there bleeding, his mother just kept saying son of a b**** and God dammit over and over to the kid. I was too scared to come out of my office.
She would rip on me about going to school and getting good grades. She made many snide remarks when entering my office. According to her all the customers were idiots and stupid. When anyone came in the door, she'd come in back to say that "all the customers ask for 'F-bomb' me." If I asked her a question about an order, she'd say in a snotty voice, "Well, what do ya think?" If she thought I was being too picky with something, she'd say, "It's not like you're getting graded on this." When I came in the morning she would never say hello, but would immediately start yelling at me sometimes.
Family members worked for the company and she would yell at them, too. She talked down to everyone and would belittle people. Her mood would change at the drop of a hat. One day she yelled at me for going to the bathroom!
The devil child would grab us women in the butt and try to reach up shirts. One day he was trying to yank on my bra strap and another day he bit me while I trying to get my work done. He would also steal my chair when I got up to get something. One day he would get out of my chair, so I took my chair with him in it and dumped him out of it. He never took my chair again.
Not long before my last few weeks at the company, my boss told me, "If you think you're going to sit and plunk keys all day, then you can go somewhere else and do it." Mind you, most of my job was done on the computer. Was I ever glad to get out of this place and get away from the control freak boss. It was like walking on eggshells constantly and I didn't want to do anything to set off the crazy person.
I worked for them for about a year and in that time the place went through 4 customer service people. No one wanted to stay.

Good for you for not getting involved in that. When I used to work in a factory, there was so much back stabbing and gossip. The dept. I worked in was a bunch of gossiping ladies. I never spent my breaks with them, because I didn't want to listen to it. I called my dept. the snake pit, because of all the hissing going on.

Re: Ever Have A Really Bad Day At Work?
I do not even want to go there.
Let's just say that by the end of the day I am so exhausted all I can do is sleep but I have other responsibilities. If I could get a different job I would without a milli-second of thought. But alas no one hires OLD people. It sucks getting old.

Re: Ever Have A Really Bad Day At Work?
Restaurant work can be really stressful as anyone who's watched Hell's Kitchen can see..
I onced worked for an upscale Italian restaurant in NY where the one chef was a champion curser and the other would drain any wine or champagne class that came back on the bus boy's cart. On the plus side, I met Olivia Newton-John there.

When my husband was in high school he worked at a restaurant where they had a Sunday champagne brunch. Any glasses of champagne that came back to the kitchen untouched, he and another guy would dump into a pitcher. They would drink while they worked.

Then you don't want to go to the Essenhaus and pass the glass boot around. The last guy to drink from the boot gets the backwash.

Re: Ever Have A Really Bad Day At Work?
I've done the Essenhaus pass the boot a few times. It's fun and I've done the passing of the yard glass there, too. I make sure I'm never the last person to drink from the glass.

Re: Ever Have A Really Bad Day At Work?
There would be few, if any, people I'd drink after.. it's not even "that" person.. but, like sex, it's every person he/she has been with. They may have health issues they're unaware of. Cold sores, fever blisters, gingivitus.. no thanks.

Even worse, I've seen people let their dog lick the ice cream cone and then they go back to eating it.

Re: Ever Have A Really Bad Day At Work?
ewww, gross! That dog licks his own butt before all that.
I remember going to a friend's house once and they were just finishing eating supper. After they were done they let the dog lick the plate off. I know it gets washed, but still the thought. Then they asked if we wanted something to eat. Um, no thanks, I just lost my appetite. They weren't the cleanest people in the world either.

Oh yeah my brother & his wife do that too!!!
After they eat off a plate (them & their kids) they toss it in the corner... the two dogs & 3 cats will lick them all clean ICK ICK! then they wash them in the dishwaher & reuse... that is just the most disgusting thing ever!
Not to mention two of the cats sleep in the plate cabinet, on the stacks of plates that they use daily... my SIL thinks it's cute ack! Needless to say i wont even so much as drink water at their house.

Ick, I know dishwashers kill germs, but it's the thought. I wouldn't be eating at their house either. Don't they have doors on the cupboards? Yuck and to think the cats walk in the litter box then go sit on the dishes.

Re: Ever Have A Really Bad Day At Work?
... insofar as a clean mouth means one that is less likely to cause disease, consider that germs tend to be species specific. Harmful dog germs are usually harmless for humans, unless we're talking about rabies, a disease that affects dogs and people in equally damaging ways. But generally, humans are immune to most dog germs. Likewise, human germs probably won't harm a dog. But human germs can harm humans, of course. So a bite from a human mouth full of harmful bacteria may very well be more damaging than a dog bite, even if the dog's mouth is full of harmful dog germs.
Dog Mouth vs. Human Mouth
So, unless your dog has just eaten garbage, etc., his mouth would, for the moment, be less likely to contain potentially harmful bacteria.
That said, I have let animals snack off leftovers on a plate but I still wouldn't share an ice cream cone or a drink with one.
