I thought this would be interesting to share with one another...
What was the #1 song on ...
- the day you were born?
- the day you graduated from high school?
- the day you were married?
- the day your child was born?
The #1 song on the day I was born was "The Battle of New Orleans" by Johnny Horton. That's funny because I have that record album and it has a bullet hole in it. Some one shot into my uncle's house and the bullet went through the cover and the record. Luckily, he wasn't home at the time.
The #1 song on the day I was married was: "Shadow Dancing" by Andy Gibb. I liked that song a lot, but we didn't have it played at our wedding ceremony. We had "When I Need You" by Leo Sayer, "You Light Up My Life" by Debbie Boone, and one of the most popular wedding songs at the time "If" by Bread.
Day I was born: I can't help myself (sugar pie, honey bunch) -The Four Tops
Day I graduated (approx.): Flashdance...What a feeling -Irene Cara
Day I got married: Right here waiting -Richard Marx. I'm not sure I know this song.
The day I graduated, the #1 song was "Sir Duke" by Stevie Wonder. I don't remember that song at all.
I remember that song. It was more instrumental than singing if I remember right. The main line is the song is, "You can feel it all over." Or if you sing it, it would go more like this, "You can feel it all oohwohoovah."

Wow that's nuts lol Glad your uncle wasn't home... i would have kept the record as well.
Shows how different the Billboard chart toppers were in those days!
Haven't heard that song since i was a child... hated it! only because my mom would sing it all the time, if she wasn't listening to it. drove me nuts yet i found myself watching that entire video lol
I've always hated that song as well, no idea why other than it's STUPID! Like I said, how different things were back then. I think Patti Page would be laughed off American Idol. LOL

LOL I can just hear simon now... "My advice would be if you want to pursue a career in the music business, don't. That was terrible, I mean just awful. "

I just noticed that the Number 1 song on the Billboard charts for this date in 1978 was "Night Fever" by the Bee Gees! It's funny because my husband was just asking me this morning where the CD of the soundtrack to "Saturday Night Fever" was at so he could listen to it.

After reading this thread again I wondered if you figured out what Sir Duke sounded like yet?
I find that hilarious that your husband likes disco. Most men either hate it or would never admit to liking it.
We used to go to the "disco" and dance to that music. I guess maybe that's why he still likes it? We have a lot of good memories from back then. My parents often went with us and that's where my sister met her husband...he was the DJ at the discotheque.
My hubby also likes listening to ABBA. I have gotten so tired of hearing their CD I now hide it when we are going somewhere so he doesn't drive me nuts listening to it in the car all the way there. Especially since he has to have the music almost full blast because he's almost deaf in one ear!

I guess I'm thankful that when I turned of age to go to the bars the music was new wave and big hair metal. Can't I ever liked disco all that much even as a kid.
