My understanding is Monday is the busiest day of the week as they play catchup because there was no Sunday delivery. Tuesday is the light day.
I don't care if it's Saturday or whatever day.. I'd hate to miss service on any day and I really think alot of the problems with mismanagement stem from the Postal Workers Union.. anytime management tries to make changes, they get blocked by the union. Cindy was a shop steward.. I heard plenty about the goings on, at least locally.
Someone was just telling me that they read if they remove a day of delivery it won't be Saturday, it would be Tuesday. Apparently, Tuesday is the lightest delivery day, Saturday is their busy day.
I was surprised to hear this since from what I experience here, Saturday is one day we don't get as much mail and Tuesday and Wednesday are the days we get the heaviest days of junk and sale flyers.
Anyone else hear or read that it may be Tuesday and not Saturday?
The first time i heard about it was on television, before i searched it online & posted here. On tv they said Tuesday because its the slowest day & online it says Tuesday was first choice, however Saturday is most likely... depends on what article you are reading, on which site i guess lol
and why would they be wearing shorts in the dead of winter?
My husband is a truck driver and sees vendors that wear shorts on really cold days. He thinks they're crazy. I suppose if they run around a lot and have the truck warm inside, but happens if your truck breaks down?

I could see for comfort driving long distance or what not & they have changes of clothes in their trucks, but a mail delivery person?? If they are freezing in winter wearing shorts to deliver that mail, that's their own stupidity. I don't feel they are doing me a favor, in doing so... nope doesn't earn them a day of recognition in my book. lol
I have a system for my job down here......this time of year especially. (walking dogs)
This morning at 5:30am it was 28 degrees. I left in sweats-over leggings-over shorts, ski jacket-over sweatshirt-over tshirt. Knit cap & baseball cap in hand with gloves, SOCKS (which I rarely wear) with my tennies, and a pair of flip flops for good measure.
By 11am (60's) I was down to my tshirt and shorts and flippy flops, reversing the program at 4pm. (50's) I'll be in full gear again at 8pm (30's).
In bed by the time it heads into the 20's!

WOW LoL i am lmao over here... i couldn't imagine going through ALL that in a matter of (less than) 12 hrs... that's just crazy weather!
Good example of how a government body is slow in reacting to real life changing conditions. With the boom of Ebay and Internet shopping, you'd think that their revenues have gone up over the last 10 years or so. I personally probably support one postal employee just based on what I ship via Priority Mail. Even if they cut a delivery day, you honestly believe that unionized postal employees would make less annual money? Not me. That's a big voting base.
Very little sympathy here for their current condition. But, this is a good example of government at its best. Remeber that when you consider National health care or Nationalization of Banks or anything else they want to take over. Still amazes me when I hear, "The Government should run........"
Best thing Government can do is get out of the way and do no (more) harm.
I know, I know, I strayed off subject again.

I understand where you are coming from... I made the same comment on another forum about Government & gay marriage. For that comment, i got chastised lol

Stick to your guns. Even if you're in the minority. Even if you don't agree with me! LOL
To me things like gay marriage should be decided on closer to the State levels. But even with that, it's an ugly debate. It's one that causes alot of tension because whatever side of that debate you're on, most folks are likely not going to change their mind. That's why I think it should go to the States. At least then it's less likely to be a polarizing national issue.

I always stick to my guns, it's the only way to be lol
It wouldn't bother me if they did away with delivery on Saturdays. We get our mail at PO box two blocks down the street but they are only open for one hour on Saturdays. If you don't get there during that hour then you don't get your mail and I rarely make it on time. We have a tiny, one person post office that's in the front part of a house that was made into two apartments. I do like that we can get our mail on holidays unlike some of the bigger post offices. Since the girl who works there lives only two houses away, she puts the mail out in the PO boxes so we can still pick it up on a holiday...but only if we get there during that one hour.

That's strange, you must be in a small town? I've heard of the window only being open a few hours, but the lobby is usually open extended hours so that you can access your box.
One thing i liked about Texas was that our post office lobby's were open 24/7, of course we only got mail in the mornings mon-sat, but we could go anytime day or night to get it.

Yep, we live in a very small town...well it's not even a town, it's actually an unincorporated village. There are only 148 houses in the "village" and I know this for a fact because we have to read the water meters on ALL of those houses every quarter! Lots of walking, but good exercise!

wow i've lived in some small villages, but that is tiny. Makes sense that they wouldn't have extended hours at the post office, in that case.
