I have a sister that is 10 years older than me so when she was a teenager I was much younger of course but I remember fashion from further back from seeing what she use to wear. One thing I remember her wearing and then she put me in them was stirrup pants! lol I hate when I see women wearing these now!
BEEHIVE HAIRSTYLE!!! Oh my gosh whatever made people do this to their hair! lol
I remember one time when I was in grade school our neighbor's teen daughter use to wear her hair like this. One day she decided to do this to my long hair! Oh my mom about freaked when she saw it! I just remember it took a long time to comb it all back out. lol Oh this was a bad hair style idea and I for one hope it never comes back in style again. lol
those lovely pants from the '70s and on top of it, my mom used to sew my clothes. I had plaid pants, flowered pants and even purple pants with a matching vest.
I had to laugh at this picture because the person wrote that it was her mom in bell bottoms.

LOL, I used to wear stirrup pants tucked into boots like these. Then I'd wear a big sweater over that. It all comes back. Boots of all heights are back, even the short ones. Come to think of it, I had clip-on elastic things that attached to the bottom of the pants leg so I could make even my jeans stay inside my boots. '80's boots are back again.
I got rid of all my old ball gowns, but the latin (rumba, cha cha, samba, etc.) gowns looked something like this...
Can't believe I used to wear stuff like this. AND, I thought it was beautiful. There is NO accounting for taste.
The smooth (foxtrot, waltz, tango) gowns came to just below the knee and had feathers all around the bottom--with a couple layers of crinoline so the hemline stuck way out. Lovely.
How about muffin tops? I would never wear something that made me look that bad. Not that I'm this big...just saying.
Muffin tops! You see them all the time. Don't they have any friends that could stop them from going out in public like that? Of course, I should talk...I have been known to run to the grocery store in jeans and a ratty "cleaning" tshirt, with my hair sticking up all over the place. Guess that happens when you get old... Is that confidence or just not giving a darn what you look like?
Younger people like to make fun of the clothes we wore in the '80s, but let's not forget what they wore in the '90s that I find stupid and some still wear this stuff.
Guys wearing clothes way to big for them and with the crotch down by their knees. How about the boxer shorts hanging out above pants.
Socks with sandals, who's idea was that? Bowl haircuts for guys, doesn't look good on anyone. Spaghetti straps with bra straps hanging out...again, no one needs to see underwear. Yes, I know girls still wear this, but I never liked having my bra hanging out. lol, I'm not sure why that person posted that picture sideways on photobucket
Oh my!!! I wish I had some photos to post.
Back when I was a kid/pre-teen in the 60's (yes, I'm OLD) my Mom sewed my clothes too. I was IN LOVE with the Beatles and asked her to make me a mini skirt and neru (sp?) jacket to match using "Beatles" fabric I saw at the Fabric Store. She went there and they were out, so she bought "Peter, Paul & Mary" fabric that had their names and guitars and tamborines on it! In shades of bright green, orange and pink! I wore love beads and white go-go boots with it. OMG. Oh yeah.....and big plastic clip-on white hoop earrings!!!
Good grief.
And yes, Jr. High and High School I was a true hippie......"elephant bellbottom jeans" with smock tops......shoes optional.....long strainght hair parted down the middle with a hippie headband.
Went through the big hair phase in the 80's, ala HEAVY METAL style though. (I dabbled in the music biz for a while) I remember having about 40 bangle and rubber bracelets on each arm and wore "ear cuffs" and multiple pearcings in my ears........geeez!!!!
Anyone old enough out there to remember Coulottes? Bubble shirts? Midi skirts? Yes...MIDI, not mini. Sweater dresses? Crocheted Vests? Flowered "Jumper Shorts"?

Early part of high school, low cut jeans with the largest bells. Smock tops with embroidery, sandals, shoulder strap purse with fringe, belt with fringe, long straight hair, and then I frizzed mine more like Carol King style, or Janis Joplin..lol lol granny glasses tinted rose, flower power, wow man, peace, love, and cool man. lol Those were the days.
Anyone have a poncho in the '70s? My mom made be a plaid red, white and blue one with fringe on. I also had a light blue one that was more like a cape where you stuck your hands throw the openings. I was so stylish thanks to my mom.
How did I forget in high school we wore cowboy shirts. yuck
I'm guessing you mean how the guys wore shirts with pearl snaps instead of buttons? Otherwise not sure if I know what 'cowboy' shirts you are referring to. I do remember my first husband use to always wear the snaps back then. Before this type of shirt he use to wear the silky shirts with a print. eck.
Thanks Ken. That photo so totally brings back bad hair day memories. lol
I remember going from my straight long hair to this puff thing on top like everyone was wearing in the 80's. I could never, ever get my hair to obey and do the 'thing' on top. I always had to have my oldest daughter or a friend of mine come over and do the 'thing' on top in front for me. Oh I was soooo glad when that finally went out of style. I think I quit mine and put a long loose perm in my hair and just washed, crunched and was done. The 80's just wasn't for me. lol
and leather hightop shoes with the tongue sticking out.
don't forget about having 2 or 3 shoelaces in different colors. I remember having a pair of tennies that had pink and sparkly shoelaces. I ended up taking out the extra pairs of laces. It was just too much hassle.

yes the ones with pearl snaps and they had the pointed yoke. I think that's what you call that part of the shirt. I think it was Urban Cowboy that popularized that look.
lol, the silky shirts. I remember those. I had one with orange colored fall trees and lakes on it.

OMG Blue, did we hang in the same crowd?? LOL That describes how we wore ours too... i couldn't be paid enough to wear that outfit now lol
