Woman Stuck On Train Tracks Called 911 Before Death
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- A Lake Forest woman who died from injuries suffered when her car was struck by a freight train in Anaheim dialed 911 to report her predicament and was being urged by a dispatcher to get out of the car when the phone went dead, police said Tuesday.
For some reason this woman called 911 when her car became stuck on train tracks at an intersection and didn't get out of the car before the car was hit by a train, killing her.

You always read about people like this and have to wonder. I think that all of us during a time of an emergency are in a different frame of mind and do things that we just would not do normally. This woman might have been so concerned about saving the car that she forgot that she was in it and needed to save herself first.

When I read about things like this, makes me realize that you get up in the morning and never know if your number will be up that day. Gotta enjoy every minute for what it's worth.

That's right about enjoying yourself. I know too many that want to wait until their older or retire to do this or that. Why wait? You could be dead by then. That's why I'm into doing as much as I can.
As for the train crash, it's an unfortunate thing. We weren't there in that situation, so it's easy to say she should have done this or that. I think she was probably in a panic and couldn't even think straight. It probably happened so fast.

Oh what an awful story. I can't imagine what must have been going through her mind as the train was getting closer. I really wonder why she could not get out in time. She must have been so scared. Maybe she was disoriented, after all what made her turn on the tracks the way she did? Maybe she was handicapped and could not get out of the car quickly. So sad for the family to lose someone and especially so close to the holidays.

I remember reading a story a few years ago where a car was waiting at the intersection for the train to cross. It was foggy and a truck came up behind her and hit her car. The driver of the truck saw the car when he hit it but had no idea where the car disappeared to. Here the car got hooked on the front of the train and it pushed the car down the tracks. The driver of the car desperately called 911 as she was sent down the tracks. The car was very damaged and I was surprised she got away with out being injured. It was just a miracle.

Train tracks give me the willies...a good friend of mine was killed crossing some tracks on a back road. Bushes had grown up and he couldn't see if a train was coming so he inched out for a better look. Unfortunately, he was driving one of those vans with a "snub nose." Wham! Killed instantly. There was a young man in a car not far behind him who saw the whole thing. At the funeral, the young man said he drove miles out of his way so he didn't have to cross those tracks. Not long after, the bushes were cut back and a stop sign was installed. Too late.

My nephew was the Flight for Life case of the year some years back after a truck-train collision. He's OK now. The signals at that track had been scheduled for update for 20 or 25 years.

I knew a girl who was hit by a train at a crossing many years ago.. she spent 7 months in rehabilitation.
I used to go into the donut shop she worked in and always greeted her with a "Ho, George!"., this went on a few times until she finally said, "Why do you always call me George? My names Jeanette!".. uhm, yeah, I'm such a smoothie with the ladies.
We stayed friends for a long time after.. always wonder what became if her (this was 1970-71).
