Wisconsin being a state that definitely loves it's beer(s), I just thought I'd add a thread about beer during the Christmas holidays..
Now I'm not talking about getting snockered and then climbing up on the roof to check for Santa's reindeer, just a casual appraisal of your favorite, preferably seasonal, brewskis.
Most breweries make a special edition seasonal brew.. ever tried any? If not, what's your favorite cold one?
Christmas tree built from 1050 stubbies (250ml bottles), equivalent to 462 pints. Tied together with 300 meters of wire and decorated with 200 lights, with a bubble lamp in the centre. Tree stands 2 meters high and 1 meter wide at the base.
Leinie's isn't making the Apple Spice this year, which makes me sad. That was good stuff. I used it for an apple beer bread recipe off their website last year. I am going to try is using New Glarus Apple Ale, which has been brought back. Although, this time around it's a bit more expensive. About $8 for a 4 pack.
My husband and I like trying different microbrews at the different brew pub restaurants. I like the raspberry weiss at Waterstreet Brewery, plus, their food is good. I've tried beers at the Delafield Brewhaus, too. Whenever we go on vacations, we always try to find a brew pub where we can get a bite to eat at. Nothing beats a good burger and beer. Well, maybe pizza and beer does. They both are good together.
I like Leinie's Berry Weiss, Sunset Wheat, and Summer Shandy. I prefer weiss beers and wheat beers. I don't like my beer too bitter and those kinds tend to be less bitter.
I have a pumpkin ale in my fridge right now, not sure of the brand. It's not too bad of a beer. I've tried the Lakefront Brewery's pumpkin beer, also.
I actually had my first beer in a couple of years not too long ago.. was just in the mood. Typically I prefer liquor to beer, but I do like to try new brews on occasion and Christmas is as good a time as any to indulge.
