Re: What are you (or your kids) going to be for Halloween?
I only make my own costumes and don't believe in store bought. Sometimes it can be a challenge designing them or finding the needed materials. I visit the thrift stores often, then it's off to the craft store, fabric store, or the hardware store for supplies.
Some issues that need to be considered when designing are how to get the costume on and off. How to hold things together so they don't fall apart halfway through the night. Just in case always bring along (in your car) a roll of duct tape, safety pins, and the staple gun for quick fixes. I also have to consider how will I go to the bathroom while wearing that costume. Yes, that's very important LOL. Have to make things "drunk proof," too. By this I mean drunk people in bars like to pull on stuff and you really need to attach costume parts well.
By September I'm already thinking of ideas for my costume and begin constructing it by early Oct. I'm really into Halloween.
My costume this year will be a Domokun. Have to love the silly Domo. My husband is going as a flashing granny. Originally, I wanted him to be the Domo and I was going to be the granny. Somehow we got reversed. I just couldn't talk him into the Domokun.
Where will we go? Not sure yet, it depends on the prizes being given out. Yes, I admit to being greedy and like to win a prize. One of us almost always wins a prize every year.

It's been so long since I dressed up for Halloween, I was always either a ghost or a Hobo.. and once a Hobo, always a Hobo. Never did break the habit of riding the rails
Re: What are you (or your kids) going to be for Halloween?
Me? I think I'll be sweating my butt off in my costume. I made the body out of an old sleeping bag and just glued on the brown fabric. I have to wear a long sleeve shirt and pants underneath. I'll be plenty warm indoors.
I've done some costumes that didn't cover much of the arms or legs before. Now that gets cold!. I remember one year having both my arms and legs exposed and there was a heavy frost on everything by the time we left the bar. Now that was cold!

Be sure to take some pictures of you in this.
It sure looks like you will stay warm in that! I just heard it is suppose to be sunny but no higher than 45 on Sunday when the kids trick or treat here but I guess that's better than rain or burrrr snow!

At least the costume I have this year would be allowed on this forum. Other years some have not been so nice. Humor often wins costume contests hahaha. That's all I'm saying.
