PETA officials say a move to human breast milk would lessen the suffering of dairy cows and their babies on factory farms and benefit human health.
|
Quote:
|
"The fact that human adults consume huge quantities of dairy products made from milk that was meant for a baby cow just doesn't make sense," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "Everyone knows that 'the breast is best,' so Ben & Jerry's could do consumers and cows a big favor by making the switch to breast milk."
|
Quote:
|
In a statement Ben and Jerry's said, "We applaud PETA's novel approach to bringing attention to an issue, but we believe a mother's milk is best used for her child."
|
Say what?? You have to be kidding. lol
OK, if I get this correctly we need to be concerned with the suffering of dairy cows and their babies so we should hook moms up to breast pumps and pump them out of enough milk to sustain the ice cream etc supplies. That way the cows can take a break?
Well I certainly don't mean to have any disrespect towards mother cows so don't get me wrong there, I'm an animal lover but...human mom's being hooked up to get their milk for ice cream? What about their babies suffering that may not get the milk they need? Aren't we going a bit to far now?
Wow, I'm getting a vision of instead of dairy farms...it could be breast farms.

Re: just plain NUTZ
Gross! I choose soymilk for my ice creams and lattes, so I guess I don't have to worry about what kind of animal my milk came from. I am concerned about BGH in cow's milk, but human milk could be so much worse. I've never seen a cow smoke, drink or take drugs while breastfeeding. People put terrible things into their bodies!

Oh...I won't be able to look at ice cream the same way for awhile just thinking about all of this! lol

Re: just plain NUTZ
I'm hoping PETA meant that "tongue in cheek" and as a kind of "what's good for the goose is good for the gander" sort of illustration. I can't imagine they are that far gone!
Then again, if you go to the PETA site they have comics for kids that teach about what happens to farm and lab animals. I don't think I'd want any small child to see them! They're pretty graphic!

Re: just plain NUTZ
Here gives you a way that you can make your own Milkshake! Breast milk shake that is. lol
Check out the following website for even more ideas of what to make with good ole fashion breast milk. Even shows how to make soap with it.
this is to much! lol
OL'MILKSHAKE
1 cup breast milk
1 peeled, sliced ripe banana
2 tablespoons frozen apple or guava juice concentrate
2 ice cubes
Directions: In a blender container, combine 1 cup breast milk, 1 peeled, sliced
ripe banana, 2 tablespoons frozen apple or guava juice concentrate and 2 ice cubes. Cover and blend until smooth and frothy. Stir in a few drops of green food coloring to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Pour into glass. Prepare and serve immediately.
Hint: Leftover ripe bananas can be peeled, cut in chunks, and frozen in plastic freezer bags. When added to smoothies in frozen state, ice cubes are not necessary.
Makes 1 serving.

Re: just plain NUTZ
Think I'll just run over to McDonald's and get a vanilla shake. Their fries taste great when you dip it in the shake!
Dairy Queen has good shakes too. But then we do have some great malts, and shakes at The Spot Restaurant (best drive inn with car hops) here in Kenosha, Culver's has good shakes too.
Now from another post about pizza and this post...I want a pizza and a shake!
OK enough! lol

I second that! Their fries really are good with a shake as a condiment. Talk about putting bad things into your body though...
I do like the McDonald's iced coffees and their "milk" doesn't make me ill (one of the reasons I stick to soy). This leads me to believe it's not milk, but some kind of McEngineered product that acts like milk. McMilk?
