Upside Down Christmas Trees?

Well I was shopping at Menards with my son and decided to check out the Christmas section. We walked over by the trees to admire the beauty of all the trimmed trees when I stopped in the asile and looked up at what I thought was the strangest tree ever. IT WAS UPSIDE DOWN. I could not understand why they would have a tree this way. I guess it does give more room on the bottom to put presents under but I kept looking at the big flat area on top and thinking how much my cats would love to sit up there! lol lol

Anyways it peeked my interest because I knew there had to be something behind this idea I decided to check it out and this is what I found.

History of the upside down Christmas Tree

Christmas is associated with a lot of traditions, of which the Christmas Tree is an inherent part. The history of the upside down Christmas Tree has its roots in the 7th century. It is during this period that St Bonafice journeyed from Devonshire, England to
Germany to preach the message of God.

Re: Upside Down Christmas Trees?

If I could figure out how to hang mine from the ceiling I would! Too many critters want to play in it, sleep in it, pee on it, or just rip it down......

Still have not even considered putting up a tree yet. I'm sure as soon as it goes up, some critter is going to rip it down (or pee on it!)

Re: Upside Down Christmas Trees?

I remember years ago we our cat always wanted to climb the tree and we feared it would fall. My husband came up with the idea of using fishing string to wrap around the tree and tie it to small hooks we placed near the inside of the window frame behind the tree. The line was strong but invisable. Worked great and kepted the tree from falling.

Our cats now ignore the tree thank goodness.

I saw that tree at Menard's too! It seems like you'd need a lot of rigging from your ceiling to make it stay put. Would you have to look at the holes in the ceiling the rest of the year?

Re: Upside Down Christmas Trees?

I MIGHT attempt putting up the tree this weekend..........I just wonder how long it will stay standing.

My critters would see that fishing line, get to the tippy top and chew it apart.
