Yooper Lodge, Michigan (UP)
YOOPER LODGE: In The Twin Lakes Area of Houghton County.
We decided not to travel far this summer because of the gas prices so I went on the bubbler's classifieds and found a great place for rent. The bubbler's classifieds are the best!!
Anyways, if anyone is interested in a remote 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom lodge, that has enough beds to sleep 14 people this is the place! Oh did I mention it also has a very large kitchen, breakfast nook, dining area, and a living room? Did I mention it has 2 bathrooms! lol
I think it mentions being on 8 acres of wooded land around the large nicely mowed yard also.
The best part??? Summer rates: $80.00 a day.
Oh yeah...the other best part? It was very clean. I honestly did not find any dirt.
Did I mention it was only $80.00 a day?? lol That was the best.
It was out a ways from many of the places we wanted to visit but it was worth the drive to get around. The entire area was beautiful to drive through and we drove everywhere!
Check out the website: www.YooperLodge.com

Back behind the lodge we found wonderful wild flowers, beautiful woods, and a really old wooded structure. Of course the kids had to check it out and wondered if it was the orginal house...I found out later it was an old sauna. Guess they had them years ago?

We also discovered the front of an old vintage car. Apparently in years gone by when people bought another car they did not use their cars for trade ins and they usually end up in the back yard somewhere.
My hubby would have loved to bring this home to put in the yard with flowers around it...lol

(note: my hubby, gearhead, just reminded me that he actually took this picture. He pulled the old car out of some weeds and leaned it on the tree and snapped the pic)

Back inside the house: this picture all though on the blurry side (sorry), shows one of the bedrooms upstairs. When you first walk in (this isn't showing), there is a full size bed. My son fell in love with this room and used the 'big' bed. lol What is showing here is the fact that it also had 3 additional twin size beds too. Notice the shiney floors and all the bedding was included. (we still each brought our own blanket/pillow though, it was our 1st time here, didn't know everything yet).
All through the house was little homey touches. Everyone kept saying it was a very comfy house. (summer rates: $80.00 a day).

Awesome shot. I look at this and think hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
a fireplace surround, hmmmmmmmmm a small back bar, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm a place to keep some tools in the garage.
The possiblities are endless.
I hope you and your family had a great time in the keewanaw, pk.

Wow, looks like a very relaxing place to unwind. I'm now considering it. Any places to launch a boat nearby?

Boat Launch
There is a public boat launch at the Elm River Township Park. It is 2 miles NE of the Yooper Lodge. If you're looking for fishing there are several small fishing lakes nearby as well. People tell us all the time there is so much to see and do here. They are amazed. The Lodge and the Cabin both have tourists books with most of the things to do. So many have come with the intent of staying one night and end up staying at least two, because they want to check out all the neat things. We had a 400 lb sow bear 8O and her 3 cubs come by for a visit Sunday night. Lots of wild life this year. The leaves are starting to turn, I think it will be early color tour this year, it's been so dry. Hope every one is having a great time vacationing this year. It's de-stressing to get away. God Bless!

It was a very nice time. But like all vacations, it should have been longer! lol
Seems like we just got there and we were going back home again. I certainly recommend if you need a nice getaway place check this out and plan to stay a week!

I worried about seeing a bear in the yard we went out but never saw anything bigger than a squirrel. We actually drove all over the back roads looking for wild life to take pictures of and saw deer, wild turkeys, 2 birds walking of which I think were blue herons? Lots of chipmunks, squirrels, a few rabbits. lol But no bear. We watched out the windows until late thinking we would see something...and then I heard the night we left the bears came to visit. lol
I have some great pictures I would love to add here but my internet is down at home (broken?) so on a different computer without my pictures! Will add some later.

Yes! I could not believe the leaves were changing! I kept making my husband stop the car so I could see them close up! lol
I took a few pictures of some leaves in the yard but can't put them on until I get my internet working again...will do so soon. I had to take pictures just so I could show that they were actually changing this soon!
Wonder if that means a cold winter when the leaves are this early? Or is this early for that far north?
