Just north of Marinette,
WI about 30 miles lies a Great State Park. J.W. Wells State Park Mi. is one of those parks we have wanted to camp at since the first time saw it about 6 years ago.

We finally had our opportunity this June and found it to be place we will return to often.
While it is typical of most Upper Michigan Campgrounds we have enjoyed, it is quite open with very close sites, the park is immaculate the restroom/shower and constantly being cleaned/maintained and monitored. Despite the closennes most people respect your space and do not invade it. I can safely say that Upper Michigan parks from our experience have cleaner restrooms when dirty than Wisconsin restrooms when cleaned. There is never a cobweb/dead bugs anywhere after cleaning!!!!This park boasts150 all electric camp sites. Their busy month is July and for the most part, as I have been advised by the park employees that many sites are available without need for a reservation. Like Wisconsin this park has firewood rules but I will say the cost $3.00 for a bundle is not bad as the wood is very dry and easy to light for a campfire. This campground has a Beach and walking trails. The camp hosts seem like very family oriented people with many activities for children. I would have to give this park a very HIGH rating for it's operation and cleanliness and showers are soooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. I could go on and on about this park but I think you should check it out for yourself you will be pleasantly surprised. A Word of caution, there are no convenience stores close to this park. Pack all your needs or stop in Marinette/Menominee for all your supplies.
Just north of this campground is the Cedar River Harbor. A great place to launch your boat into Green Bay for the day or use a overnight electrified slip. Check it out.
