Evereyday people experience discrimination in one form or another.
For myself it's the age thing. I will leave it at that.
If anyone thinks older people are less motivated, have less energy, and can not learn new skills.... well they have another thing coming..
For people who have older subordinates who say they can not be motivated, I say you need to understand how to motivate better, and if you can not handle that...... You are NOT doing YOUR job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
look at this amazing Man!!! at the age of 81 he is about to embark on a 16 day 200 mile bike ride in Arizona. The math tells me that his plan is to ride 125 miles/day!!!!!!

....Now, a very great man once said
That some people rob you with a fountain pen
It didn’t take too long to find out
Just what he was talkin’ about
A lot of people don’t have much food on their table
But they got a lot of forks ’n’ knives
And they gotta cut somethin’....

I feel like speaking about so many pros and cons about being mid forty. However, I choose to accept, and be happy about how far I have come with age. Yes, I do feel it slow me down! I have lost energy and am not ashamed to say so although it is a wake up call to imagine what is to come! Live good now is the lesson. Can you imagine most of us aging as baby boomers born from the sixtys.....good news....we are a majority unlike previous generations who came of age...hahahah. So those who are trying to single us out....gonna have a lot of us...and just think.....all of us aged at 80 years old with revoked driving privilages, and then GAS MAY DROP IN PRICE! Let them take my racing away and hand me a cane,
I think that it is a slap in the face to hit mid life. I try to figure out that either you let it take you down, or you swim. I do feel like I am old, and I am only getting older, so I hug life like a pot of gold for now. It is nice to grow old and be able to have a comfort in speaking your mind cause you already look like a fool or a nutty old bag so if you say something crazy, people just understand that your OLD. Funny thing, I aint wasting this good tme on worrying about what another person is gonna say to me. They will get their turn at age too,........only if they are lucky. 8)
I'm not old, but you forget that young people are discriminated against as well. I graduated high school early and am 20 and about to graduate college with 2 degrees. But I'm just a kid right? I don't know anything about the working world even though I've got more experience than some mid twenty early thirty working adults.
Going along with the young route... I am 17 and I just redesigned this website. I'll be 19 when I graduate with my CompSci Degree. But I have to be 18 to vote and do anything important. The problem is that people use age to gauge maturity, and that just isn't a good indicator.
My 2¢ worth of maturity ☺ I too have been a victim of age discrimination (once for looking to young☺, we won’t go into the other one).
I understand where Kate and Mike are coming from but to tell you the truth there are people that do not act there age, whether they are 18 or 40+, personally the maturity level of someone is not going to reflect age but how well one matures with age. This is my opinion and I am sticking with it☺
Age is how young or old you feel…some days I feel 40 others I feel 18. I take the good days with the bad days and go with the flow.

Life is not measured by the breaths that we take;
it's measured by the moments that take our breath away!
I was 18 when I went to Army basic training. Not old enough to drink in some states, too young to rent a car in many states, but old enough to be trained in the use of rifles, machine guns and grenades. Go figure.
Some of these remarks sound more like age profiling (what used to be referred to as stereotyping in my day)
We all face discrimination in one respect or another and I am not about to be pointing any fingers or discredit anything anyone has posted.
Discrimination is a selection process, to be accepted or NOT.
Discrimination would say to, many successful people that because of certain criteria they would be bypassed.
i.e.
The following did not have a Bachelors degree, would you toss their resume’s aside? Yes there are many more that could be included in this list.
Albert Einstein
Bill Gates
Peter Jennings
Age discrimination would say too young or too old to learn
Maturity would say”each one learns in their own time and some take longer than others”
Maturity also looks at everyone as says “they all have value as I value all life”
Now tell this to the out of work, misplaced aged worker not ready to retire whose job has been outsourced offshore.
Hey Keith
In my day the slogan was
"Draft beer NOT me"
