"Idol" finalists sing for TV's top title
This week is the week that many of us have been waiting for. Finally, the answer to the BIG question. Who will be the next American Idol? lol
OK, let me explain that I never watched this show before this season. I never wanted to watch this show. This show looked boring to me.
OK, along comes my son and he started watching it and next thing I knew I was sitting there each week watching all the talent singing their hearts out with hopes of winning in the end.
We watched while at the end when our least favorites were voted off and secretly laughed as we watched them leave. We watched while some of our very favorites were voted off and silently cried for them.
Now it's down to only 2 and surprisingly they are both our favorites! Blake because he is just so super creative, and Jordin because of her beautiful voice.
I think we will vote for Blake though just because he has so much talent in being 'different'.
So here's a story about this weeks show. And if you watch this please vote on here and let's see if the bubbler members can predict the next winner.
After 18 weeks and the tearful eliminations of thousands of wannabe pop stars, a bubbly teenage diva and an edgy nonconformist will hit the "American Idol" stage this week to vie for the top spot in the world's biggest singing competition.
The winner of the popular U.S. television contest will be announced at the end of a two-hour finale on Wednesday, but not before finalists Jordin Sparks, 17, and Blake Lewis, 25, are given one more chance to strut their stuff on Tuesday night.
Not even the show's acerbic judge, music producer Simon Cowell, dared to predict the winner.
"I can't call it at this stage because I think they've both got different strengths," Cowell said on a call with reporters. "One is a better entertainer (Lewis) and one is a better singer (Sparks)."
"American Idol," now in its sixth season on the Fox network, has grown from a cheesy summer talent competition into a cultural phenomenon and the United States' most-watched TV show.
The show, which puts contestants through auditions and performances that showcase musical genres ranging from country to hard rock, has produced a list of successful stars from both its winners and losers.
The first ever winner of "American Idol," Kelly Clarkson, is now a Grammy-winning pop star, while one-time "Idol" loser Jennifer Hudson won an Oscar this year for her role in the movie "Dreamgirls."

Give Me a B.L.A.K.E. What does that Spell?
Blake Lewis, Blake Lewis, Blake Lewis and thus the winner of Season 6 is none other than Blake Lewis.
I agree with PK, I really never paid much attention to the whole American Idol reality show. Although my favorites now include Kelly Clarkson season 1, Clay Aiken season 2, and Carrie Underwood of season 4. All I have bought their music and love the CDs. This currently has been the most talked about series yet! So pass me the popcorn and soda while we all enjoy the final results.

I think I sat up and really paid attention to Blake when he did the Bon Jovi song, You Give Love a Bad Name against the advice of Bon Jovi. He thought Blake was taking a huge risk singing it in the 'Blake Lewis" style.
At first I thought, 'oh no, he's messing up a Bon Jovi song!" But by the time he was done, I knew he had the potential to be a winner. He has guts, he's edgy, and he knows how to pull off the impossible.
Let's hope everyone votes for him to make him this year's winner.
I do want to say that is difficult for me to say that since I also think Jordin is great. But she could not sing every song they threw at her in fact she totally zero'ed out on the Bon Jovi week.
She actually a much better voice than Blake but that's where it stops. Blake takes it further with his talent and really knows how to deliver every time.

I've watched Idol every year, but after Melinda was kicked off last week, I have no use for that show. It has clearly become a beauty pageant and not a singing competition. How can someone who sings like Tina Turner not win a singing competition?????
I like Blake a lot, and his style of music is in line with what I listen to. I hope he wins. He took very boring, old songs and livened them up each week. He got a lot of slack on Bee Gees week but come on, who can sing those songs but the Bee Gees?!
Jordin comes from a wealthy family, is pretty, has nice teeth and a big Broadway voice. Yawn... been there, done that with Katherine McPhee. Jordin is a talented girl, but I'm really sick of the phony Miss USA types.

I agree about Melinda. No one came close to her singing abilities. She would out sing everyone with anything they asked her to perform. She wasn't as pretty, she was older than the rest by a few years, and she had a much 'older' style about her so I had a feeling she would not actually win but I thought she would be in the last two standing. I was shocked when she was cut. But again, it's not the show but the votes that come in and America wanted something different. Sad, because if they went solely on singing, Melinda had it hands down.
Jordin has a beautiful voice when she does a slow song or something she picks but does not have near the range of talent that Melinda has. So that is why I say we should all vote for Blake because he still has the most creative talent. Not the voice but he makes up for it in other ways. He will go far because he is soo different.
So I almost quit watching when Melinda left but decided to go all the way and vote for the next best talent on there. If you are upset with Jordin still standing instead of Melinda, then maybe you could vote for Blake also? lol

From the begining of this season I've been hoping for either Melinda or Blake. But now that M is off I'm really hoping for Blake to be victorious this evening but we'll find out tomarrow!

I thought Jordin really put alot into it tonight that it really makes it difficult to predict which one will actually win. I didn't think Blake was totally 'on' the last 2 songs as much but still he was great.
It's going to be a very close vote.
Can't wait to see the results! Just glad I'm not betting on this outcome because I really can't predict which one is going to win!

I understand this is the best thing to happen to Blake. Jordin is now locked in to American Idol for the next 2 years? She has to sign and work for them Blake is now free to look at all his options of which there will be many for him now that he is so well known from the show. We will certainly be hearing about him.
Please write and let us know if you hear of a new contract or song by him in case I miss it. I will do the same.

I do have to say that it was a very sad and happy moment when I watched Melinda singing last night. I think many such as myself felt she was really the best singer on the show ever. I was shocked the week they voted her off.
I wish her all the best of luck in her career as well as Blake and Jordin.

I watched some of the results show last night. Jordin winning wasn't a surprise. I did find it interesting to see the ex-winners. I like Kelly and Carrie a lot, but I barely remembered Taylor and Reuben. I didn't see Fantasia, was she even there?
I think the producers are going to have to do something big next year to bring back some credibility. The top ten this year was the weakest in years. It also seem like people aren't trying because they know people like Chris Daughtry and Jennifer Hudson have done well without winning.
I guess it's off to America's Got Talent for the rest of the summer!

With the talent that Chris and Jennifer has there was no doubt that they would go far. With or without American Idol.
But the question here is, would they have been discovered and gone this far...this quickly, had they not tried to win on American Idol first? The exposure for the top few is huge.
As far as the top 10 being weak this year...I have no idea since this is the first season I watched. But I think it was great. Melinda was fantastic, Chris was good, Phil Stacy had a wonderful voice.
I had a great time watching this show and plan on checking it out again next time it comes on.
The only thing they should re-think their way of voting and not let America decide fully. I think the judges should do 50 percent of the outcome like the Dancing with the Stars do it. Then you know that there is some votes toward the talent portion and not how many friends and family each person has that will vote for them.

I agree! I am surprised they haven't done this all along. The producers of the show have to make a record with the winner. When you get someone like Taylor Hicks that is not universally marketable, what do you do with them? It seems like a gamble!
