DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE!!!!
how many must pass
before their time
how many die in their prime
how senseless is this all
to drink and drive
shame on them all
one for the road
they used used to say
but when you are caught
loss of license you will pay
but will that stop the addicted ones
the ones who still drive
when their license'a are gone
no one can tell them what to do
they are lost in themselves
and have no clue
stoney rohde
Two stories of what never should have happened. There are many more like the Coach from Menasha, I just could not find his story.
If these are NOT sobering what is?
Is so simple
DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE!!!! and stop those who want to!!!!

I was going to say that.....but you already did.
One thing I have drilled into my kids heads. Right now I only have one driving, but they all get to hear my "speach" as they call it.
My middle one wants to get his license and IMHO he's just not ready. I told him next year when he's a junior he can take the class's.....if he shapes up.

So sad to read this. Life is so short, I will never understand why so many people rather go through it in a haze because they are under the influence of drinking. But that isn't the problem. The problem starts the minute they make it everyone elses problem by getting behind the wheel of a car and driving. We all become their targets and you never know who is going to get hurt because someone decided to get drunk and drive.
They can make so many things, computers, internet, etc..why can't they make it where a car can 'sense' the smell of someone drinking and simply don't turn on when the scent is in the air. lol That would be great wouldn't it?

There is a breath analyzer that detects the presence of alcohol in a person that gets behind the wheel. If alcohol is present in the specimen, the car won't start. These devices are used by the court system for drivers that have already had a certain number of OWI violations. The driver blows aa sample of his/her breath into a small tube, which then is analyzed by a small computer, and if there is a certain amount of alcohol, the ignition becomes disabled. To put this device in every vehicle would be a violation of some civil rights.
Consider the lose of revenue the justice/court system would loose if there were no more OWI/DUI violations.

But there are ways around those devices also. Saddly all one has to do is get a "Friend" who has not been drinking to do the blowing....why one would even consider this is beyond me. But I have heard of it happening.

OK, this is good, I never heard of it before. But as Carol said, it wouldn't take much for a friend to use it first.
