Boyd, WI
Ok, let me first start out with saying that I'm sure some are going to find this crazy but I need to ask this question or make a request (however you want to put it). Easter weekend me, my 2 kids and my boyfriend went to his grandparents house for easter vacation (a 6 hour drive). On Sunday we left late at night and started hearing a thumping sound coming from the drivers side. The day before the brakes were worked on and so we thought that's what it was, of course we stopped and checked it out and it wasn't the brakes. We took off again and a little out of Boyd going east on Hwy 29 the wheel completely came off of the truck, that was quite an experience to say the least. Anyway the truck was trying to be worked on on the side of the road, no one stopped to help which was frustrating, finally I called information and they gave me the number for the Sheriff in that county and someone came and they went around looking for the wheel and they got a hold of a towing company to help out. Thanks to Wellner's South Side Service for coming out at 2:30 in the morning to help us and being so nice about it, I can't thank him enough (We needed some lug nuts to, to put the spare on and he provided that too). He helped us to get back to the rest of our 4 hour drive home. So now the truck is going to need some work done to it due to the damage to the drivers side. It turned out that it wasn't the brakes but the lug nuts, for some reason they came loose as we were driving and that's what did it. The thumping happened again as we were coming in to town and almost home, but at least this time we knew what was wrong, tightened them back up and we were not far from home.
Ok now that you read my story here is what I would like to ask. That night after we got everything taken care of we looked up and down that section of 29 to try and find the wheel, it flew across the other side of the Hwy so we searched that area (from the Boyd sign and a mile from there), didn't find anything. If there is anyone out there in that area or knows of anyone in that area and by chance you see or find that wheel could you please send me a message so we can get that. It would be greatly appreciated. We believe that it either landed in a field or in the wooded area.
Again, I'm sure this sounds crazy but I didn't and don't know where else to go to find this out.

Wow, sounds like a nightmare of a ride home. Glad to hear that you made it safely.
I do not live anywhere in the area of the tire you are looking for. But I do have a question. If someone does find your tire would you actually drive the 4 hours there and 4 hours back home again for it? Just wondering but with gas prices so high would it not be cheaper to just find a good used tire if a new one is to expensive and put that on instead? I know we have a great place where I live that sells used tires so that is what made me wonder if that may not be an easier option for you.

Well the rims and tires were brand new (which also weren't cheap. I don't know why he does that on used vehicles, but anyway.....), they were just bought and put on in late Nov. My boyfriend wants or wanted to be able to find this I just thought I would post something to try and help out, maybe we'd get lucky??? If not, then it's a loss and others will have to be gotten.
In a way no it wouldn't be a waste of a trip up there to get it because we or he would always just keep going from there and do a family visit again. Like I said, I know it's kind-of crazy, but hey you never know.

Well you never know with the bubbler members, someone may just surprise you and find the tire for you! Wouldn't that be cool.
And it's certainly not crazy to post and try to locate the tire, it's better than never trying at all.
Really wish you luck.
