The 'white' is caused by light reflecting of the crystalline structure of the frozen water particles. When it melts, the structure no longer exists, and it cannot reflect light in the same way.

OK, that's the scientific answer...

Now, I say it is just magic. It's really there, you just can't see it. Magic! lol lol
You are simply suppose to enjoy it and not question it.

Where does it say that Humpty Dumpty is an egg in the poem?

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again.

I asked that very same question when I was a child. Made my mother do a double take.

It's funny but I never thought about the fact the poem never mentions an EGG! lol The picture always showed an egg so that was good enough for me. I had 4 kids that I recited this poem to and never did they ask me this question either. ummm

Anyways, I looked into the question and found some very interesting answers. Most to long to copy here but one place had many facts. Check it out if you really want something to think about.

Since there is a speed of light and a speed of sound, is there a speed of smell?

I think there is a speed of smell and it seems to be faster and more powerful when one is in a confined space with another who has gas. The effect is particularly amplified in the little cages that take you to the top of the arch in St. Louis.

Keith

Based upon my experience it is slower than the speed of sound because your hear the event before you smell the event.

But all this based on the event having a sound and not being ignited.
and Yes I have ignited events in the past.

Humpty Dumpty was a powerful cannon during the English Civil War (1642-49). It was mounted on top of the St. Mary's at the Wall Church in Colchester defending the city against siege in the summer of 1648.
Although Colchester was a Parliamentarian stronghold, it was captured by the Royalists who held it for 11 weeks.) The church tower was hit by the enemy and the top of the tower was blown off, sending "Humpty" tumbling to the ground. Naturally the King's men* tried to mend him but in vain.
Many nursery rhymes in effect were history lessons.
