What do you do for New Years Eve?

I read somewhere that even though New Year's Eve brings parties first and for most to people's minds, the statistics show that you can find the majority of people at home with family at midnight.

What are your traditions? Where do you usually find yourself at midnight? What do you usually do on New Year's Day?

I know we always declare New Year's Eve Family night and pig out on snacks and play games with the kids all evening. Every year we also watch the ball drop in New York on t.v. at 11:00. When the kids were smaller we always told them that was good enough if they could stay up to watch that, and then they would fall asleep. lol

On New Year's Day as long as I can remember in my life, we always would eat my mom's homemade spaghetti for dinner. Her sauce came from a very old Italian man my father knew that owned a restaurant. It is so excellent that we can't start the year without having it for our dinner. In fact I took over the tradition some years back and now I am the one to make it each year.

Just thinking about it makes me hungry! (or it could be that I skipped breakfast this morning)

At home with family....

Family and maybe a couple of close friends.

The Packer game was great last night. Otherwise there might be some board games or cards. If it's just family, maybe we'll be working on the Christmas jigsaw puzzle.

A fairly quiet night. The big excitement is popping in to theBubbler (no kidding!).

Happy New Year, pk.

Regards,
Keith

p.s.: The spaghetti's making me hungry now, too!

Well the holidays are almost over. Just a couple more hours then off to bed and back up to get kids back in school.

Hard to believe how much work goes into having a wonderful season and it is over all to quickly.

We had a great New Year's Eve except we ate way to much! My daughter is a great cook and she made vegetable tempura, homemade lumpia, dips chips, more and more...it just kept coming all evening. We played monopoly and my grandson beat us all! Had fun watching the ball drop in New York.

And yes, we had the traditional homemade Spaghetti Dinner tonight and it was great! I'm sooo stuffed.

Oh, and yes Keith one thing I can't forget to mention...I was on here also very late last night and that is always a fun time on any day.. to check out the bubbler's forum.

I went out in Appleton for New Years. Wasn't really in the mood, but my girlfriend would have been upset if I hadn't gone, so I just bit the bullet. Was home by 2 or so. Nothing too exciting.

UGH about 11:30 I was scrubbing dog poo off the carpet. Then I dozed off on the couch and woke to the sound of a puppy peeing a flood on the carpet about 2 am!

We watched CNN for about the last twenty minutes of 2006, and then went and played World of Warcraft and watched the digital fireworks over the digital ocean at Darnassus at 1 am.

I know. I'm a geek

It was really cool to be able to both stay at home with my husband and also celebrate with people from all over the world, both in the same night, even if the party was virtual.

To many intoxicated people in the bars on New Years, I bartendedfor several years and watching the people wasn't even any fun any more.

We go out with a few friends and family memvbers to a nice dinner and go back to my house and Play Scenit and board games and we have a blast!
