Farewell old friend

I was informed last night that a very very old and close friend passed away over the weekend. We drifted apart a very long time ago and now I will never see him again.
Learn from my mistake and reconnect with your friends today.

time flies by
fears rush in
mortallity hits
deep within
where are those years
where did they go
gone in flash
gone before you know
friends should be forever
friends should be close
sometimes they drift away
so the story goes
you can not recapture
what already has been
just reconnect
today with your old friends

I thought I posted a response but maybe I dreamed it.
Thank you all for your kind words.
This weekend I reconnected with another old friend with intentions of seeing many more in the New Year.

It's always so difficult to lose a friend that was special. I'm very sorry that you have to go through this.

It is a good reminder to all of us that even if you can't see an old friend because of miles in between, try to at least keep in touch with emails. Send little stories, jokes, share pictures. It's a great way to keep in touch.

I have to renew this post as I lost another old friend that I haven't seen in years. He passed away 12/23/2011. May that perpetual light shine upon you old friend.
