Plasma vs LCD

I'm leaning towards Plasma. Anyone have reccomendations? I'll be starting out with standard def T.V. moving to HDTV within a year. Is it worth it? Any particular model that stands out? I'm thinking 42 inch for me. I may just wait the year until prices come down too. I'm not sure if that's worth the wait either.

Mark,
I just picked up a 32" wide screen LCD digital HDTV ready TV and I am satisfied with it because it was in price range of under $700. It seems every thing over that price is is 42" or bigger and not in my price range. But, if I had the funds for a higher price I would lean toward the plasma because the picture seems a little more crisp than a LCD.
I still own 4 - 21" standard TVs and a 32 inch standard screen TV, and hope the HDTV does not make them obsolete soon.

Thanks for the input Earl. I too think the Plasma looks better in the larger screens. We currently have a 36 inch flat screen that looks good. We're looking at going to the next step. There are so many choices for models and makes that I'm concerned about making the right choice. There just doesn't seem to be any clear stand outs. Maybe that means they're all pretty equal. I don't know. I don't want to be the guy that spends $1500 only to hear "you shouldn't have gotten that one". Just looking and learning right now.

Any other opinions? How does the Plasma look with standard def?

Plasma vs LCD

From what I understand, after shopping around, and speaking with television and cable tech, The plasma TV has a small nuclear reactor in the workings. Might be dangerous if the thing gets dropped, or something flying across the room hits it.
I've been comparing LCD, and Plasma. The Plasma does have a crisper picture. I'm waiting for the price to come down.

Re: Plasma vs LCD

50" LG Plasma. Picture is great. We decided on Plasma because it's more durable with the glass screen as opposed to plastic on LCD. Our tv is in reach of little scratching destructive hands.

Re: Plasma vs LCD

That's my main complaint with my LCD computer monitor.. spots and stains, etc on the plastic screen.
