I will be compiling a DVD of photos for my Father's Birthday in January 2007.
I need some background music.

Ragtime music and Irving Berlin were hot in 1912. I found this list of songs published in 1912:

The Titanic sank in 1912, and I remember a lot of hymns like "Nearer My God to Thee" used in the movie and documentaries about the sinking. This Titanic forum has a nice thread about music of the year:

It's hard to believe that less than a hundred years ago, there was almost no music recording going on. What was recorded was put on wax cylinders.

Since he was born in 1912 he'd have been a teen and young adult in the twenties and thirties -- there's a lot of good music from the Roaring Twenties that you could use too.
