Cellphones these days come with a myraid array of functions built in. Cameras, MP3 players, video games, some are even fully functional handheld computers! My current phone is reaching the end of its life, so I've been shopping around for something new - but can't decide with all the choices available,
The phone I have now has a camera and some low quality games. A particular feature I'd like is built in MP3, as my player died on me a few weeks ago. One thing i've noticed, however, is that many of these Media Phones have really low battery life. Can anyone suggest a modern phone that can play my music but will stay charged for a whole day?
If you ask me, it's a cell phone, not a walkie-talkie, or a MP3 player, or a video game console, or a GPS unit. I suggest you just get a phone that is used for, well calling. Trying to combine so many objects into one just seems like a hassle. I suggest you get Chocolate if you really want a MP3 phone, it also comes with built in GPS
On second thought, its battery life is the worst of any phone, ever. Don't get it.
My phone is a camera phone and that is enough for me. Sometimes I wonder who invented cell phones! Everywhere I go people can chase me around and find me now. And we all know if the phone rings you have to check it out to see who is calling so it's like I can't get away from the phone anymore.
I really complain about the battery life on just my phone. I'm lucky if it lasts a whole day. I finally put another battery in and it's the same. So it came down to the fact I had to face...I talk to much on the phone! lol
Mine had completely worn out and I just replaced it a couple weeks ago. I don't know if they have one with an mp3 player, but Nokia's got a fairly long battery life (I've only plugged my phone in twice since I got it on the 16th, and one of those was just because it was down to three bars and on my old phone three bars really meant I couldn't receive calls anymore without the phone shutting off, so out of habit I plugged it in).
We went to the US Cellular on BlueMound in Brookfield and the guy who helped us seemed to really know what he was talking about with the phones and he didn't try to push anything on us, just asked what we were looking for and showed us just what we asked about (I essentially said the same thing as Ryan, I just want a cellphone. It doesn't need to do anything but store my numbers, make calls and maybe text messaging because a lot of people are used to texting me from when I had a phone that wouldn't call out but would send text messages). You might try asking in there.
Heh, I sound like a US Cellular commercial. But really, we were AT&T customers before and we got pretty terrible customer service, and we went first to their store on the 16th to see what better plan we could get since we were buying new phones anyway, and the woman who helped us certainly knew what she was talking about and didn't give us bad service or anything, but it was pretty obvious she hated working there and was very bored with the whole thing, and she tried pretty hard to upsell us on the phones and the plan. I'm sure that's company policy, so I'm not blaming her for doing her job, but for about the same price we've got much better customer service and the clerk at US Cellular was more concerned with getting us what would work for us than with upselling it. So he got the sale (and a little word-of-mouth advertising).
I've got a Verizon with camera, video, high speed internet, keyboard, MicroSoft Pocket PC (does Word and Excel). Voice activation and GPS are supposed to be free upgrades coming soon (though voice was supposed to be here by Summer and we're past Summer).
My phone uses a mini SD memory card for extra storage. 2 GB now, supposed to be up to 4 GB chips available by end of year.
As long as it is wearable (I use a holster) and the battery lasts, get all the features you can. Cheaper than buying separate items, and more fun.
Bluetooth! I've got the ear bug and it is GREAT for driving, or even for walking and talking. Definitely increases driving safety.
I don't have a cellphone, all I have is a regular phone. I think all the features phones have now, is a bit out of hand.
On a side note, I'm simply annoyed when I hear loud ring tones in stores. People can turn off their phones for a little while, when they shop... it won't hurt them. People have phones attached to their ears way too much.

A bug in your ear?? ECK! But don't worry I heard it really isn't serious..at least it won't eat through to your brain...or will it? lol lol
Maybe it has, and that is why it is good for your driving, walking and talking? It is up there telling you what to do!
By the way, what kind is it?
A walking stick? That would help with your walking.
A beetle bug, could help with your driving, if you own a VW.
TALKING? A locust makes noise all the time in the fall...do you have a problem being quiet?
Android has taken it a long way... My daughter is about to get one & wants me to get one also... don't know if I will or not.
Her friend brought her Android over a couple weeks ago & they were showing me all the applications & features. She honked her car horn & flashed her lights from inside the house... now that may be a little much, but still fun to mess with people i guess lol She is waiting on something to be shipped to her so she can set it to start & turn off her car from a distance.. that would be cool in the Winter.
My decision will be based on how much the monthly service charge will be. Right now I have an HTC windows mobile pocket pc & pay $160 a month... no way will I pay more than that.
You ought to check into prepaid services.. many have some cool phones and you can get unlimited as cheap as $50/month.

I have an HTC Evo4G and love it. It has a decent camera with flash, camcorder, GPS, etc. It can't swim, though.
Looked at the Thunderbolt, or whatever. Reviews say it's VERY bad for battery life in 4G mode.
Dude at Best Buy Mobile installed an "AppKiller" app. It kills off processes that run continuously and sap the battery. It's configurable. I highly recommend it. I can't give you the exact name because my phone is out for repair. I did say it can't swim, right?
