The hubby and I and of course Schatzi too will be in Oconto this weekend staying with friends. We all plan to take the pontoon boat out for a ride on the river and maybe do a little fishing. Not so sure about tenting out but hopefully mother nature won't rain on our parade this weekend. The hubby and I will also find time this long weekend to be out on the Harley too. We have enjoyed many brisk evenings so far and all I can say is that it has been chilly fun riding.

No cake and ice cream because I made 1 cherry pie and 2 pumpkin pies which were very delicious and did not last very long.

On Saturday 9/22/07 I had the pleasure of partying with Doc and his beautiful wife, at the Doc’s Harley Davidson 28th Annual Shop Party. Shiver me Aarly's! I had a blast! Bikes, apparel, food, drinks, all the pirates and lassies you ever wanted to see in one place too. The grand finally was the bomb... awesome fireworks display! I fit right in too being that I am part pirate myself because, all I needed that day was a peg leg and parrot (I wear a permanent hook LOL), hung over, sore muscles and a horse voice proved I had partied all night long with the lot of them. I was supposed to introduce myself years ago but as usual, I procrastinated.
I am attending Fox Valley Technical College for a two-year degree (as part of my rehabilitation, after loosing my left, non-dominate arm in March 2002 in a work related accident). As the last semester winds down, I am also settling into my new career as an Administrative Assistant for Mau Realty Inc. (A great bunch of people!) I am stressed-out at times but I will understand all there is to know in know time and I will adapt my way of doing things soon.
My children are grown up now and doing their own things, my son Kyle is continuing his education in computers and my daughter Kara was following in his steps, but decided to take a trip to the sunny state of Florida to enjoy a break. (Boyfriend)
This leaves much more time to spend with my wonderfully supportive husband Gerald (gmc48fan). He recently purchased a Harley Davidson motorcycle, which we plan to take many cruises on this summer. I am excited about this and I cannot wait for it to warm up. (You have to love WI weather, no more snow please!) I can say I am ready for Mother Nature to stop teasing me with the warmer days we have had lately.
I almost forgot to mention the newest member of our family, Schatzi our black, miniature schnauzer. She is an amazing animal and she turned one year old on February 20, 2007.

Merlin Hegner, 86, of Appleton, passed away July 2, 2007. Born in his home on North McCarthy Road, Town of Grand Chute, May 17, 1921, to Leo and Anna (Koch) Hegner. He was joined in marriage on December 12, 1942, to Lucille Brightman. Merlin raised his family in Greenville and worked for many years at Hafemeister Machine Co. Known as "Mr. Fix-it," Merlin spent many hours in his garage fixing things. He moved to Lakewood, WI. where he purchased a gas station and tavern. In 2005, Merlin returned to Appleton. Merlin also loved golf.


Merlin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lucille, sons: Charles (Marilyn), Gene (Mary Lou), Robert (Kathlene), Kenneth (Bonnie), daughters: Anna (Stephen) Smith, Kay (Eugene) Hemauer, 29 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.


He was preceded in death by his father and mother, brothers: Earl, Lloyd, Melvin, sisters: Viola Fenner and Alice Peterson.


The family would like to express a special Thank You to the staff at Manor Care.


Visitation will be at Shepard of the Hills Church in Greenville, WI, at 9 a.m. with service at 11 a.m. on July 6, 2007. Burial will be at Clayton Cemetery on County Hwy T in Larson.

Well to continue on from my well over due introduction, let me tell you more about my interests starting with…

How I came up with my nickname… After my accident at work(mill job), I used humor from day one to help cope with the big challenge I was about to embark on and well Onez stands for one hand and the 48 stands for my favorite race car driver Jimmie Johnson hence, onez48.

My interests… as I said I love to watch NASCAR racing (but the real pro is my husband he can answer most questions you can think of about the sport.)

Frisbee golf… again I give much credit to my husband because he got me involved in it. I am not as good as he is but we do it to get outdoors and have fun along with the exercise.

Ah… the great outdoors! You have to love WI to love the outdoors! (You cannot forget about the weather either!) I don’t know of any other place I would rather be. I love to garden, go camping, go fishing, go swimming, go horseback riding, arts + crafts or creating stuff. (Now days these are all much more challenging but what would life be without challenges?)

Much of this outdoor stuff can be done with our friends or without them.

I have to bounce back a bit now to say, I have graduated from the tech. YES! The second biggest accomplishment I have completed yet in my lifetime.

Movie… the last movies watched were “Music & Lyrics” and Hannible Rising.

The last books read were “Chicken Soup for the Unsinkable Soul”, and “Gardening in WI”.

I have mentioned in my intro our newest addition, Schatzi. She recently learned to fetch a Frisbee disc. She is a great companion!

The motorcycle… we have been out on it quite a few times now and we have managed to stay safe and dry. LOL :) I will enjoy all time spent with my husband on our new toy.

Mau Realty & Builders… again a great bunch of people to work for, I enjoy my new job.(We are still looking for new agents to join our team)

The daughter…lives it up in FL yet.

The son…is soon to do a bit of traveling too.
