Parakeet Owners?

I used to own several lovebirds but since moving into an apartment have settled for one green and yellow male parakeet (Mr. McGillibuddy, or Buddy for short). Anyone else own parakeets?

I've owned Buddy since this past April and leave his cage door open all day so he's free to come and go. Most of the time he's content to sit on top of his cage all day and scope me out He's just now getting to where he'll perch on my shoulder at the computer desk.

I have his cage situated on the window seat in the living room surrounded by birdhouses, plants, lawn ornaments, and a circulating water fountain.. he still prefers the top of his cage Well, I like the way it looks anyway, hehe..
