Re: To all HQ Bird Cage’s owners – Toxicology Report
I checked the toxcicity report and it seems that the paint they use is WELL below the limits deemed acceptable. Anything less than 250 ppm would be acceptable, and the highest value for any of the paints they use is about 2.5 which is only 1 % of the total allowed. The method that the laboratory uses is a very good method for detecting lead in just about any type of sample, soil, water, any solids, such as paints. Just the fact that they test thier paints for toxic levels of lead should speak very well of the company. I would not worry about the paint used on the cage that you bought, or any other cage you buy from this company. I would be more concerened about buying a used cage that you do not know who made it or when it was made. More care has to be taken for birds such as parakeets and other hook-beaks who use thier beaks to hold on the the sides of the cage. They are more likely to ingest paint chips that birds such as canaries and finches.
Hope this helps, I have over 14 years experience in the environmental field, so I hope that my opinion makes you feel better about the cage you bought.
