Tough series loss to the Giants - at least Bond didn't homer

The Brewers were ready for Bonds, but not the rest of San Fran's normally sluggish offense.

I'm not a fan of the record falling to a 'roids taker.

The game I saw on National TV did not have announcing as good as the usual, local guys. The bright spot with a national celeb sportscaster was Bob Kostas who joined Bill Schroeder and Brian Anderson in the booth and aired his views on Bonds' Hall of Fame chances. His feelings about it reflect my own. Nice to see the recollections of many on Hank Aaron's last homer - hit as a Brewer - and Aaron's distinguished career.

Good to see the Brewers come alive to take the last game of the series, too.

Regards,
Keith

Re: Tough series loss to the Giants - at least Bond didn't homer

I can't see rewarding a player for acheiving a goal under less than that which natural abilities would allow. Steroids are drugs, and are abused like drugs. A toll will be paid by the abuser. If not by means of their peers, then by means of the super natural. Either way, one gets what one plays for, and it is not always fair.

Re: Tough series loss to the Giants - at least Bond didn't homer

The hard part is knowing what records in many different sports were achieved while the player was "enhanced". Football, running, swimming, biking, baseball...

Tough to know who to admire.

We can count on Hammerin' Hank, and the Babe...those greats, as not have been 'enhanced', as you so aptly put it. I can't imagine being drunk as the same thing as being hopped up on steroids. If the stories about Babe Ruth being drunk while at bat...I would suggest we toss a few extra home runs on, just for good measure.
