Barron County, created in 1859 from Dallas and Polk Counties, is named after legislator and circuit court judge Henry D Barron. Located in northwest Wisconsin, the county seat is Barron.

Geographical Province Central Plain
Natural Vegetation Mostly maple, hemlock, and yellow birch. West and southeast: small areas and red and white pine. Southern edge: savannas of bur oak, white oak, and bluestem. Northeast: small areas of white, black and red oaks.
