I need a source for wood
Hi, I'm new to Wisconsin. I moved to Neenah from Tucson in June and bought a house in July. I converted my large garage into a work shop for my wood working hobby.
Tucson has a great source of wood but I seem to be having trouble finding a source for wood up here. I'm not talking about the stuff you buy at Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, etc.
I was up in De Pere (spelling) recently and stopped in at Woodworkers Depot. They have a supply of wood but not the large quantities I'm used to. When I bought wood at my favorite wood store in Tucson, I had two to three pallets of hard maple stacked two to three feet high each to search through. They also had similar quantities of red and white oak, cherry, hard and sap black walnut. At least twice a year they would get in 12" X 20' X 5/4" red oak in large quantities. That is the type of wood supplier that I'm talking about.
So, does anyone know where I can buy some wood?
Bill

Re: I need a source for wood
Brought back memories of my dad working in his wood shop. The weekend would usually consist of him running to Fillingers Lumber Yard. I dont even think they are around any more.
A fellow piggy owner friend of mine is in Neenah WI and she says her husband prefers to get his lumber from H & K Woods 9697 Anderson Lane

I'll look to Wisconsin Saw Mills, if nothing else they would know where to find a source of quanities of wood. I would also look into Local Wood Carvers.

BTW the Iron wood from AZ is some hard stuff! Oak and Walnut are your best options from our region

Fillingers is still around, on North 43rd Street in Milwaukee. Just hard to find because they didn't hire us to do their web site.
