I decided to do a Christmas card exchange with a bunch of online friends this year. Since they are all graphic designers, they will be hard to impress, or maybe it will be easy since they appreciate creativity...we'll see.
It seems that last year many had done homemade cards or put a little something inside of the cards. I was thinking of putting a part of Wisconsin into my cards, but I don't have any ideas. I was wondering if anyone else did. What could I put inside that is from Wisconsin? A Christmas tree made from Miller labels? Throw in a couple of Jelly Belly's? LOL give me some ideas.
I was trying to stay away from the cows and cheese. I think that Wisconsin is much more than that.
What comes to my mind is an old log cabin in the woods where you are looking into the windows from the outside. (of course there is snow all over, it's Wisconsin)....The scene on the inside can be your miller made Christmas Tree or a tree with little bottles hanging as ornaments, and comical animals sitting around on the floor (deer, raccoon, skunk, rabbit, a hawk, etc), all with a bottle of beer and a brat in hand celebrating their Christmas.
And instead of a big bear rug on the floor make it a rug shaped like a hunter's coat (orange). and a table with legs made out of guns. OK, well maybe that is a bit much. lol
Well you can see why I don't get the big bucks for creative ideas. lol

lol
Throw in some bubbler business cards with confetti
3 lashed for me..oh how could I forget to put something about the bubbler in my thoughts! OK, forget the beer tree ( I dislike beer anyways,)...Make it a tree with ornaments hanging made out of the bubbler business cards! That is sooo a big part of our state of Wisconsin for sure.
lol and don't forget to put a little old fashion 'bubbler' fountain outside of the house too.
Gotta put a Kringle in there,,,, after all Santa's real name is Chris KRINGLE!!!!!!
I could really go for a apple or cherry kringle right now with my coffee,,,, sigh,,, we don't have those here. Guess I could mail order some from Racine!
BTW, love the idea about the animals and the "hunter rug" I can get a really good visual on that. Just need to have the hunters head above the mantel! and animal paw shaped stockings hanging from it!!!!!!!

MMMMM Kringle!! The new baker over in Ixonia had some Key Lime Kringle last week~ Not as good as Key Lime Pie... but it was still good! Will get more.
Baker Dave makes all his donuts & breads fresh daily. He's right on Hwy F, just off of Hwy 16 in Ixonia.

(Giggle) I do have paw shapped stocking for all my critters. I'll be digging those out soon for St. Nick
I just remembered some cards I had in my drawer. Back when I worked for the little print shop of horrors a couple of years ago, we printed lots of cards. The customers would bring in paintings and we would scan them and shrink down the pictures to fit on a card. A couple of our customers were quite talented. One lady brought in a watercolor of some clydesdales pulling a sleigh. I liked it so much that I printed extra copies. Shhhhh, don't tell anyone! I just found about 20 cards in my drawer.
I still would like to throw a little something inside the card.

lol lol too funny, I actually wrote about the hunters head above the mantel but decided that may 'upset' some people that can't take a joke. lol So I deleted that part. So, I did not write that...no, I really didn't! lol
Carol the very best place to get a Racine Kringle is at O & H Bakery in Racine. They are the very best around..and guess what?? They are only minutes away from me so I can get one anytime.
OK, I'll be nice and say that I think you can actually order them. I'll find the website and post it here but I'm running out the door right now..will do so later.
Graphics from Wisconsin postcards? The art museum, Door County, etc...?
Regards,
Keith
That's not a bad idea. One idea was to make some little cards of some different Wisconsin things. Maybe 3-5 per Christmas card. Then I was going to punch a hole at one corner and tie them together on a ribbon. I was going to write on the back of each card some description or interesting fact about the item. That was one idea anyway.
All this talk about food in every thread. Are you guys trying to tell me something? You're just trying to fatten me up for winter, but you see I've already have my winter padding from last year ahhaha.
Their cakes are great too. The Banana Torte cake is to die for.
Now that Kringle Club looks pretty interesting!!
