Re: toast
I'm really glad I found this recipe. Sometimes, when I want something different for breakfast, and think, "Toast...wouldn't it be great to have some toast". I now can rely on the recipe section of theBubbler, and great chefs like Andy to ascertain a well rounded, and nutritional breakfast.
Thanks

Re: toast
I greatly enjoyed toast for breakfast.
Later in the day, but earlier than now, I used toast as part of a meatloaf sandwich. It was delicious.
Toast; it's not just for breakfast anymore.

Stoney knows toast.
Eloquently put, my friend.
A side note...toast is not good with tar or marbles.

So true. Actually breakfast of eggs and toast isn't just for mornings anymore. One of my favorite dinners after a long day and I'm to tired to cook anything big is a good plate of eggs and toast. Makes the end of the day delicious.
One more thought; my son loves when I take the bread and toast it in the frying pan with the left over grease from frying eggs. Leave it in the pan for a few minutes and it comes out nicely toasted with a great taste.

Re: toast
toast topped with peanut butter has been many a late night snack. Try the "after egg" toast above and then sprinkle with parmesan and sauteed mushrooms.

Re: toast
I tried shockedonlooker's idea of peanut butter smeared on toast. After some deliberation with myself, I decided to add some grape jelly over the top of the peanut butter.
WOW was the first thing that came out of my mouth (after swallowing the toast with peanut butter and jelly). After much consideration of the flavor combination, I went on to make more toast, (using Andy's recipe). I smeared the peanut butter in a liberal manner, and topped it with some honey. I noticed that after dunking the prepared toast in some milk, the flavors were even more intense. Dunk the toast preparation in hot coffee (black or with cream), and you can enjoy another taste delight.

Re: toast
Try dunking it in beer for another taste sensation. No, I never tried it, but you never know. It might be good.

Great, another taste sensation that hits the right spot.
Mushrooms are an excellent source of potassium and niacin. Both are essential minerals in maintaining good health.

Re: toast
Let us not forget the reason for this particular recipe thread. We conscience students of gastronomy have gathered on this thread to pay a sincere homage to one of the greatest food staples known to mankind ever. Toast.
The Ancient Egyptians are credited with coming up with the first form of toast. That was about 6,000 years ago. I was basically bread left out in the sun. But Toast evolved. Today, toast with Toast.
Toast. What can you say?
No matter what you top it with, you still got toast. Toasting bread in ancient times was a means of preserving it. The Romans spread the idea of toast throughout Europe, even into Britain, and the colonists brought toast to the Americas. The word 'toast,' in fact, comes from the Latin word tostum, meaning scorch or burn. Toast is essentially burnt bread, so the name makes sense.
Fruit, Vegetables, Meat, specialized preparations and spreads. Regarding edibles, you name it. You can have it on Toast.
So, please don't take toast lightly. It's been around the block. Kings have been fed Toast. yes, Toast is a Regal Food. Paupers eat toast. It holds the basis of life itself. Water goes well with toast, if that's all you have.
You can bet a baby will work a piece of toast over, and the elder folks will make short order of a nice piece of whole grain toast, as long as it's dry enough. Toast runs the entire Gamut.
Long Live Toast!
