Well hello there! Had to spend some time catching up.....duck tacos? YUM! It always turns to food, eh?

I had Mahi Tacos the other day here in Navarre at a very good "Mexican" (Baja-style) restaurant called The Cactus Flower Cafe. WOW! I am working my way through their menu slowly, about 1/3 there. They have simply outstanding food, ALL homemade sauces/salsa/queso, everything made to order unlike most Mexican places. They use all fresh herbs, lots of veggies, etc. Good fresh food.
My son is doing well with his new job here, the new Sushi Bar has pretty much been packed daily! Gee, Sushi Bar on the Gulf Of Mexico? Makes sense to me, why didn't anyone open one up years ago?
If anyone watches the Weather Channel, Mr. Jim Cantore was in my neck of the woods all day yesterday. Woke up early Sunday morning to the news saying a storm developed OVERNIGHT! Yikes! We are preparing for "Ana" and "Bill", which are both a week out, then along comes Tropical Storm Claudette out of the blue.
It made landfall around 1am today in Ft Walton Beach/Destin, which is 20/25 miles East of me. We didn't even get any wind, a little rain. But I am stocked up and prepared for the next one!
Other big local news: Some fishermen about 40 miles offshore from where I live were busy photographing some Whale Sharks (the largest sharks in the world, but totally harmless, they eat plankton) when they noticed a very large shadow approach, thinking it was another Whale Shark.
NOPE! It was a very rare GREAT WHITE SHARK sighting! Oh boy! Great Whites rarely come this close to the Northern Coast of the Gulf of Mexico! funny.....JAWS 2 was filmed here in Navarre.......makes sense now.
Who wants to go swimming?
I have company again, a girlfriend from Appleton,
WI! I have a fridge full of cheese (cheese curds! yum!) and some venison (steak/brats/sticks) and.....oh boy........WALLEYE & PERCH in the freezer! I am absolutely elated about that fish! I haven't had either since 2004. My friend wants me to thaw the fish and eat it while she's here! NO WAY! I am saving that for ME! She can eat that up north anytime she wants. Uh uh. No way!
She arrived yesterday, so now begins the "seafood fest". I'll be so sick of shrimp, scallops, etc. by weeks end! Lots of good fresh scallops since it's scallop season here right now.
Oh yeah, we'll have to go have sushi as well.
I'll gain 5# while she is here. She also brought along her little dog (8# mix) which surprisingly is getting along great with both of mine.
So, that's all that's going on in my life, tamed says hi.....she's doing fine, just very busy.
I'll pop in again next weekend and let ya'll know if we survive the next Hurricane....ANA!
Hope everyone is doing well...........
